And if you are charging the wedding, how much are you planning to charge?
I am adding a poll just in case you would rather not post. I do know of a couple who charged their entire $60K wedding but on a Bank of America 0% interest for 1 year card that they are paying off in under 12 months.

Re: Charging wedding expenses
we charged things - but knew we could afford them anyway - we really did it to get points on our cards which we can then redeem in the rewards program!

Re: Charging wedding expenses
We only charged the deposit for Jericho Terrace. Other vendors we are trying to pay cahs, b/c most are not charging us tax if we pay cash. Also, we want to carry as little debt from the wedding that we can.

Re: Charging wedding expenses
One of my conditions for having a wedding reception was that we not charge anything. We have stuck to that.

Re: Charging wedding expenses
well at first......nothing.
But now with buying a house, we may need to charge some things. Hopefully not too much.

Re: Charging wedding expenses
I charged deposits to certain vendors for security. But I paid everything off when the bill came. We got back from our HM debt free.

Re: Charging wedding expenses
I'm trying to pay cash with everything so I can save some $$ on the tax.....the only things that I've paid by charge are BM gifts, and accessories for myself......vendors and all, are mostly in cash.

Re: Charging wedding expenses
is it just me? or have any of you found that vendors don't accept credit cards?
I have yet to talk with any vendor who accepts something other than a check, certified check, or cash.

Re: Charging wedding expenses
We are not charging one, single item for the wedding. If we can't come up with the cash for something, we're not doing it.

Re: Charging wedding expenses
We only charged the airfare for the honeymoon and maybe a couple small things here and there. It was all paid off by the $$ we received as gifts before we left.

Re: Charging wedding expenses
we haven;t charged anything yet, and I'm probably postponing my wedding an entire year porecisely so we won't have to.
The only thing we might charge are odds and ends like STDs, favors or anything I order online. Nothing big though. FH has one CC with a HIGH limit, and we're trying to pay that down so that as we start aying for more wedding stuff if we get down to the wire and we don't have enough $$ we have it as a last resort.
other than that we're using our deta skymiles card and our disney rewards card for everyday stuff, both of which will help us on our HM

Re: Charging wedding expenses
This is the article that made me so curious about what LI brides are doing.
I really found it odd that they would charge wedding expenses when their debts include $60,000 in school loans, $10,000 on credit cards, $60,000 in car loans and a $225,000 house with a $210,000 mortgage.

Re: Charging wedding expenses
Yeah everything - we are charging for miles - we DO NOT charge anything we can not pay off that month. Like most people on this site we are planning ahead of time so we are able to pay of piece by piece over a year and a half. We already have free round trip txs to hawaii - I am aiming for fiji don't think we will get it. We should have enough miles for Central America possibly Europe though as well.
