Has anyone contributed money to a favorite charity as opposed to giving out favors at the reception? This is something my FH and I were looking into and wanted some feedback on how you went about it. How do you let guests know about it? Thanks!

Re: Charity Contributions vs. Favors
i have never ever ever walked into a wedding wondering what the favor would be.
i wonder what the bride will be wearing. how much her mom/dad/grandma will cry after seeing her. how beautiful they'll look together as man and wife.
have i worried about a trinket? give me a break
people will think you're cheap if you give a favor or will be forced into it? not a chance. most will be appreciative that you thought about donating to the american cancer society after grandma and grandpa died of cancer, or donating to make a wish to send a little boy or girl to disneyland.
people make comments about EVERYTHING. if they want it their way, let them pay for it.
i said it once above, but i believe donations are the best favors to give.
we actually are not giving favors or donations. i don't see the purpose or need.
