charity donation as a favor..

charity donation as a favor..

I lost my Mom and my FH lost his brother, so to honor them and their memory on our wedding I want to do a donation to a charity in their names in lieu of favors.

I want to include something either at each setting or 1 bigger thing on each table in a frame. Any suggestions?

Re: charity donation as a favor..

you can do either one ... some people put a single sign on the place card table that has a memory candle for the person ... the sign explains that a donatoin has been made, and why it was made.

another option is to put a scroll or favor tag or something at each place setting as the favor. That's what i'm doing - we got organza bags filled with jordan almonds and the tag says 'in lieu of traditional favors, we have decided to make a donation in your honor to the ____. Thank you for sharing our day with us!'. (pics in my 'my wedding' album if you wanna see)

Re: charity donation as a favor..

I saw the idea for charity donations as favors here and i love the idea. My FH lost his mom to cancer so i wanted to donate to the american cancer society in her name. But, my bit*h of a mother shot down the idea saying that 'people like to leave the wedding with something'....Come on, i'm paying to feed them, get them drunk and have a good time...like a cheapo salt and pepper shaker is going to be a big deal!!!
So what i plan to do is make little scrolls and buy those livestrong bacelets (there is a different color for each different type of cancer) and i'm going to give the bracelet and scroll to everyone as their favor. I haven't made anything yet (still have 3 years until the wedding), but thats my plan.

Not just bc I also lost my Mom to cancer, but it is so much better knowing a donation will be made than to get some little coaster or whatever. It's a nice way to honor the memory of your FH's mother and include her in a sense in the wedding.

Re: charity donation as a favor..

I had cards printed up - that will be at everyone's place setting...

This is what I did...

Donation Cards

The saying is:
We are so blessed to be celebrating this day
surrounded by the people we love.

How do we appropriately say thank you
for sharing our wedding day with us and
for all the love and support you’ve given us?

Since our wish has come true on this day,
we feel the finest of gifts we could give is one
which gives others their wishes too.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes
of children with life-threatening medical
conditions to enrich the human experience
with hope, strength, and joy.

So, in lieu of a traditional wedding favor,
we have made a donation in your honor to
The Make-a-Wish Foundation.
