charity donation ideas

We are giving a donation to a charity instead of favors. I'm just trying to figure out which one to donate to. I feel like it should be related to something that has afflicted our families, so cancer's an easy one. But, there's so many organizations out there. I check them out on the BBB, but that doesn't really narrow it down significantly. Does anyone have any experience or advice that would help me rule in/out different organizations? Thanks!

You could donate to any number of charities. It can be an issue you are interested in or something that has directly impacted you or your family. Then decide if you want to donate to a local or national charity and go from there. If you want to donate to cancer research,etc, you can donate to the American Cancer Society which I believe is pretty general. If you want a more specific charity like breast cancer you could donate to the Carol Baldwin foundation (not sure of the entire name)

This is what I am doing for my wedding too. I think we might be donating to Breast Cancer Foundation...only because my mom had breast cancer twice and i think it would be a nice gesture and the guest would really think it was a great idea. I am not doing wedding favors (because most of the time guests just throw them out or leave them at the table. if i found out any information about any foudation i will let you know. HTH

I am thinking of donating to breast cancer research too. FH Mom has breast cancer and I think it's so important to donate to something that affects you personally or something that you truely believe in HTH!!

We 'borrowed' the idea from another bride. We are giving out the Live Strong bracelets. This way we have made a donation, and still given a favor.

We are donating to the Lance Armstrong Foundation in memory of FH's father and my grandfather. We are also donating to the American Diabetes Association in memory of my grandmother.

Donate to a charity that is important to you. There are tons out there. You can do a search on line.

Hi. I also want to give a donation. How do you get the Livestrong bracelets? Does the Cancer Society send them to you after the donation is made? Thanks for any info.

i gave out teh livestrong bracelets for my wedding in june... everybody LOVED the idea! and its nice to see peopel who were at the wedding still wearing their bracelets... ya can't say that for many other favors
i just did a search for the lance armstrong foundation- you can order the bracelets right from the site.... you can get them in packs of 100.... they come individually wrapped, too.... i just wrapped them up in tulle with a little tin of mints and a note explainging the donation. good luck!!
