go to 'my account' and scroll down on the page to where it says delete current avatar picture.

The picture or the comment? If it's the picture, follow the advice above and hit 'refresh' so that you could see it. If it's the comment/quote you have to wait until you have 1000 posts to change it.
I found this on the 06 Board:
1-49 = Newbie (Light Blue)
50-249 = Board Enthusiast (Light Green)
250-999 = Board Fanatic (Purple)
1000-2999 = I'm Addicted (Red)
3000-4999 = It's An Obsession (Pink)
5000-7400 = It's A Sickness (Dark Green)
7500-9999 + Beyond Obsession (Orange)
10000+ = Board Princess (Maroon)
20000+? = Queen of the Boards (Hot Pink)
