Need some advice before going to look at the place--I have heard good and bad---Im looking for a nice sized cocktail room, and a gorgeous reception area.

They have both. My family is still calling me saying great things. The bartenders (there are two) were so great. they didnt have a cheap wine one of my relatives wated so they went and bought it, they brought my dad beers out to the outside without him having to ask..
Monika (Bridal Assistant) was always on top of cleaning my dress after I dripped chocolate from the fountain on it, brought my tons of spinach pies, we went to the Bridal Suite for a moment to get away and she brought some of EVERYTHING from cocktail hour, plates and plates full.
Nick is the best Banquet Manager and Maitre D. Hell never forget you our your spouses names, he remembers all past conversations. Was really funny & never rushed me. He made my day Magical!
The atmosphere is great abd gorgeous for pictures! If you have any questions about food or anything let me know. Heres a pic of the gazebo outside.
I looked at Chateau La Mer. The reception rrom was very nice (new), but it's very long and I felt like some of my guests would be in an alley. I didn't like the cocktail room (it looked old to me), but the BM said they were redoing the whole room this summer (maybe it's done?). It wasn't what I was looking for, but I know people who got married there and LOVED it! Oh, the price was good. It was the second cheapest I looked at.

We had our wedding there---it was WONDERFUL. The rooms are beautiful,esp. the reception room and yes the cocktail hour room is in process of being redone plus people can also be outside during CH. The service there is AMAZING and food was great...from my review:
Chateau La Mer (NY)-10+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ What everyone else has written before in previous reviews is oh so true. I don’t know what I can really add here…CLM made our day so wonderful. They are SO organized. Everything was laid out exactly how I had asked. The service was insanely good. Anything we or a guest said was done immediately. For example, my sister/MOH wanted her silver flip-flops up in the bridal suite and within three minutes someone came done. All the guests raved about the food and service all night. We had worked with Lou up until the day of with some contact with Nick. Day of, Matt was our maitre’d and Monika was our bridal attendant. They were both so attentive and took care of everything. Matt kept the chocolate fountain going after the party was over since we never got to have anything too. I felt like everyone there was a friend or family member, not someone working there. They run an extremely tight ship! Nothing to worry about if you booked Chateau!

There is a thread on the 05 board and also BHB... I will bump them for you! Chateau La Mer is beautiful- and they bend over backwards to make sure you're happy!! Definetly check them out for yourself!!!

I just wanted to say the room is a long rectangle but with 120 people I only had table around my dancefloor in a square. Noone had to be back by the bar.

We love it! We loved the ballroom with the windows and the view of the water, plus the prices were great!!

The Chateau La Mer is beautiful and the rooms are great and the price was right. The staff there is amazing they will do just about anything to please you

I didn t think the room was long. Depending on how many people you have(in any hall) you will have tables behind tables.
We loved the outside cocktail hour. Every room looks funny when it's not set up.
