Chateau La Mer or Riviera?

what are your opinions? we're most likely having a wedding in either june or august. thanks for the help xo

ETA: ok we crossed the swan club off of our list and added chateau la mer. the harbor club would've been on that list but it was 95 per person plus 20 per person for vienesse! now again.. which one would u prefer? we're gonna get the room on the first floor the bigger one. its gorgeous

Re: Riviera or Swan Club?

ive been to a wedding at both places.

of course, im partial to the swan club, because that is where I picked.

The wedding I went to at the Riveria was tight at 160 people, and I felt to room was oddly shaped (we were in the back corner, couldnt tell we were there!) The cocktail hour room was very packed, but i have heard that they renovated. IF you have a nice day, the CH is on the dock, which is nice.
It was a winter wedding, and the Riviera has a wintry feel - with all the dark paneling and such. The food was excellent!

For a summer wedding I liked the swan club because of the beautiful gardens. I am in the big room too, which is a max of 230ish. The food is outstanding, and i liked the layout of the room.

I would have a tasting and go see both! I dont think you could go wrong either way

Riviera -- if the weather is nice, you can have a ceremony outside near the gazebo and then even have the cocktail hour outside too---- nice breeze from the ocean and I loved it! (I went last July).

I would say definitely Riviera but only if you are having a smaller wedding (like around 150 or less) otherwise its squishy but the food there was awesome and it's a great place. I wanted to check it out for my wedding (FH LOVES it there) but it was just too small.

I like the Swan Club over the Riviera.

I think it depends on what your looking for. I agree the Swan Club doesn't have really fancy rooms and it can be a turn off of some. I choose it primarily for the grounds and the initiial price was excellent until I decided on getting chair covers. Make a list and write down the pros and cons of each. I'm sure you won't go wrong either way. Good luck

CLICK HERE FOR MY REVIEW OF CLM!

CLM was gorgeous and they eventually gave me the cheapest price. My family still tells me it was the best wedding theyve ever been to and are still raving about the food!! Go and talk to Nick and have a FREE food tasting, even before you book with 6 other people. Its a GREAT night out.

Good Luck!

i was ready to book with the Riviera but decided not to b.c of there unprofessional behaviour. I made an appt for the food tasting which is only scheduled during and wedding where they actually send someone out to the cocktail hour to randomly select food piled on one plate. I would not have appreciated that if it was my wedding. You would think that someone would have put food aside prior. the manager scheduled another food tasting with a bride who just booked them and devoted all of her attention to her while I was set aside and ignored in the corner of the uncomfortable room. Only when we stood up to leave did she ask what we thought about everything.

My review is also in my profile along with pictures.

I have never been to a wedding at CLM, my wedding was at the Riviera, and I've been a guest at 3 weddings there.

LOVE IT! The place is gorgeous. Beautiful big mohogany bar, fireplaces on each end of the dance floor, windows overlooking the Great South Bay. It doesn't looke like a typical wedding reception hall. There is something about it that I love and it's hard to describe until you walk in there.

They bridal room is great! It's upstairs and has french doors that open up to the outside balcony. They have another balcony overlooking the dance floor where the bride throws her bouquet from.

Weather permitting, you can have a beautiful outdoor cocktail hour.

I will say, if you are planning a huge wedding, this isn't the place. I would say over 150 people is tight. If you are staying under 150, it's fine.

The people I worked with there were amazing. Over the top friendly and accomodating. On our wedding day, we showed up an hour and a half early because we finished our pictures early. They were so accomodating, our waitress was there right away, getting us drinks, she brought up a plate of cheese and crackers, grapes, etc. My matre D actually was on his knees taking stains off of my gown and helped me decide how to hold my gown during the first dance.

Anyway, I can go on and on. Both places are beautiful, but the Riviera is very special to me! Good luck and check out my pictures!

Re: Chateau La Mer or Riviera?

I have been to two weddings at the Riviera and looked there for my own wedding but wound up choosing Chateau La Mer. The food is very good at the Riviera and I like the room- it has an old fashioned feel to it but it is odd shaped. For one wedding our table was on the dance floor and for another it was all the way in the back. I also didn't like that if the cocktail hour can't be outside because of weather it is in the back of the ballroom behind the bar and there wasn't enough seating. The outside deck is beautiful and the gazebo is very pretty.

In the end, we chose Chateau La Mer because of the amazing service we received from the moment we went to look at the place including the free food tasting where we could bring 6 people with us, the newly redone cocktail hour room and bridal suite and the fact that it could accomodate a large wedding. We also love the ballroom with the windows overlooking the water. My wedding is tomorrow so look for my review in a couple of weeks!
