Chateau La Mer v. Fox Hollow Advice Please!

My fiancee and I are looking to be married in June of 2011 and we are between Fox Hollow and CLM...I went to visit Fox Hollow and would have my reception in the Garden Pavillion room, however we are concerned about the dance floor being too small (we are looking at around 120 guests) , and we are concerned about the outdoor ceremony (i feel like one can hear the cars from the highway) besides that, the price is right and the grounds are beautiful!

We have not seen CLM yet and we are concerned about both the price per person and minimum for a Friday or Saturday evening as well as the simultaneaous weddigns at once (at FH weddings never meet, and im scared they may at CLM)

can anyone shed some light on CLM prices as well as whether or not simultaneous weddings are an issue as well as whether or not the dance floor is too small at fh and if you can hear traffic from an outdoor ceremony at FH??? HELP!!! Thanks!!

I'm actually looking into those two halls as well and would love to hear any advice from people who have had their weddings in those halls.

Althought i haven't heard much about FH, I have heard only great things about CLM. I am concerned about multiple weddings though.

Thanks in advance!

I am actually getting married at the CLM in June 2011! A week after yours. The prices are very reasonable, the food is great, and your guests actually get a second serving if they want. I am having my reception in the grand atrium room. If you need any further info FM me. :)

I am getting married at the Fox Hollow in the WGP. I also looked at Chateau La Mer. The Winter Garden Pavilion is absolutely beautiful and if you have the opportunity to have your wedding there you are so lucky! I am having about 135 and I have been to a wedding in that room with more and there was plenty of room on the dance floor. It looks small because of the way the room is set up but it is fine!! Chateau La Mer is a very nice place too but if you have the opportunity to have you reception in that room you have to take it!!!! HTH!!!!! FM me if you have questions!

i looked at fox hollow and thought it was great. I do see your concern about the dance floor but think you should be ok. Did you ask them how many can fit on the dance floor? would you consider a different room in there?

I also looked at CLM, and IMHO i would go for fox hollow. Fox hollow seems more professional and modern.

My experience at CLM was not good. We had an appt and after waiting 35 minutes we left. they had us waiting in the lobby, right where all the guests were which i thought was uncomfortable. I think them handling two parties at once would be hard bc you would def see each other. i found the restrooms dirty and the part that turned me off the most was when a party guest came in (a 16yr old bc it was a sweet 16) and went to the coat check the man running the coat check looked her up and down in such a way that i was uncomfortable just watching it. on the flipside though, i have seen pics from events there and it does look beautiful. maybe it was just the timing of my appt.

good luck

I got married last May...we had our ceremony/reception at the Fox Hollow and let me tell you...ppl are still talking about it. We/everyone had a fublous time.
We got married outside and NEVER did we/anyone hear a car go by. We got married at 630p on a saturday....prime time.

The food is amazing....thats a BIG factor also besides dancing/dance floor.
I was supposed to have my cocktail hour in the WGP, but the weather was amazing so we had it outside.
Can you switch rooms? Can you have your ceremony in the Briar Fox? Can they accommodate you in anyway?

I wasn't a fan of CLM and I agree with one of the brides below. I was blown away with Fox Hollow and then went way and above.....CLM didn't give me that wow factor when I walked in.

By the way-Fox Hollow gave us a VERY good price for May, on a Saturday night...under a $100 a head....

Thanks so much everyone! im going back today to check out Fox Hollow one more time and am also checking out CLM. Its good to know that the dance floor was okay for a wedding of 135, a coworker also advised me to ask if the dance floor can be moved (probably not, but its worth a shot!!)

I'll let everyone know my decision afterwards.....wish me luck!!

For the Fox Hollow bride who had her ceremony outside, was your reception in the big ballroom or WGP? I know they have two seperate outdoor ceremony sites for each...mines would be the one closest to WGP

Thanks again!!

My reception was in the Briar Fox room. Next door to the WGP...it was perfect.
Good Luck. Keep us updated

I'm going to check out both very soon, but i'm starting to get really worried that my guests will end up bumping into guests from other weddings....i REALLY don't want that.

Hi! I have been to weddings at the FH and there is NO issue with hearing traffic from Jericho. It is amazing how the tree line blocks everything & you feel far away from it all :)

I recently went to an event that was held in the garden pavillion and they set up the tables in a really unique style (family style) I hear it is the latest rage and this is one of a few rooms that can accommodate this set up style You should ask to see it! Anyhow the dance floor was a good size and having a bar in the room was awesome!

Hope this helps in your decision and good luck!

FH and i looked at both locations...

Neither one of us were to thrilled with FH...when we went to FH we were put in a small waiting room with about 5 other couples and with an appointment we still waiting like a half hour-45 min... on top of it we did not get a tour of the hall. now to be fair there were parties going on so i know we couldnt go into the specific rooms but the BM didnt even walk around with us to show us the other aspects of the hall.

CLM on the other hand, FH and i felt so comfortable. We really loved the view and the option for the outdoor ceremony. In addition the fact that they hold food tastings before you book is a big plus! The food absolutly sold us! Not only that but their pricing is GREAT!!!! We are getting married there on a Sunday in June and the pricing was just PHENOMINAL... even on a Saturday night the pricing was not that much higher... i think it was only like 10.00 more per person.

CLM is definatly worth taking a look at... FH is very nice to, but FH and i were just not thrilled with the first impression..

if you have any questions feel free to FM me.

chateau la mer all the way ! in my opinion they are two toally different looking halls. i will say that the staff and food are incredible at clm! plus you cannot beat the gorgeous view and tropical feel on the water and the yacht arrival ! the times of each wedding are staggered so you are never running into other people. i would not worry about that at all.

The times are different at CLM...form what I have heard and read on here, no one ever bumps into people from the other wedding...say my ch is 5...the next one would be like 7 or 730....that really isn;t a problem there.

I think I've been to FH once and have heard great things.

All I can say is CLM is amazing. DIno and I fell in love the moment we walked in. The downstairs room is STUNNING...love the outdoor area and the yacht arrival. Nick the BM, is AWESOME!! The price was unbeatable, and the food was delicious! I would check them both out. It's really a personal preference. Good luck!

I never say another guest or bride at CLM. While my guests my have seen guests from another party they really didnt care. I have been to weddings all over LI and if there is another event going on your guests will see other people......its not a big deal, its not like they spit on you or anything...lol

CLM went above and beyond my expectations. Fox Hollow may be great too.....I never looked at the place since I knew I wanted to be on the water. I had a Sat night wedding and was under 100...not sure what their new pricing for 2011 is but At CLM for the price I was getting the most as far as food goes....every where else I looked at was more expensive and you got 1/2 the food choices.

Re: Chateau La Mer v. Fox Hollow Advice Please!

I got married at CLM in November 2008 on a Saturday night. My reception was in the atrium room. There was a party going on upstairs and I never once ran into anyone from the upstairs party.

I think for the price, you cannot go wrong. I honesly think the price is a steal! Since I've been married I've been a part of several weddings and a guest at many. After seeing what I got at my wedding, especially the cocktail hour, I dont think anywhere else really compares to CLM.

I have a review up if you want to check it out, or feel free to FM me if you have questions.

We got married at Fox Hollow, we looked at both, though and I have been to wedding events at Chateau La Mer (TWOTY with LIWeddings)

We had our reception in the winter garden pavilion, and were part of another wedding in the winter garden pavilion (if thats the room you are talking about). The wedding we were in had 150 people, and there were no problems with the dance floor being to small.

I have attended another wedding at the Fox Hollow with an outdoor ceremony, and with the music, the ceremony and the fountain behind us, I did not notice the noise of traffic at all.

when we looked at CLM, it was a few dollars a person more than Fox Hollow, not much (but it was a January sunday afternoon). I have never been there when there were 2 weddings going on, so I cant really help :(

Hi I actually have been to both fox hollow and CLM and personally between the two I'd go with Fox Hollow .
I went to CLM with my fiance after looking at the website to me it looks much better and bigger on the website . There is no elevator upstairs so that turned me off right away. We had to wait 45 mins to speak to someone . Overall not a good experience.
Fox hollow on the other hand was very nice , we just walked in no appointment and were treated very nicely beautiful rooms and the food is very good i hear.
You should also check out Crest Hollow country club its beautiful.
