So I hate to be a pain in the neck on these boards and ask so many questions, but I guess that is what they are for huh? So my FH and I know that we want waterview. We saw and loved CLM and are going to take a look at the venetian this weekend. In your expert opinions, what do you think about these two places? How do they compare as far as food, minimum guarantees, price etc.
Any advice would be great!

Re: Chateau La Mer vs The Venetian
I went to CLM yesterday and was supposed to go to VYC today but ended up not going. My FH's fam is from NJ and he has 120 people coming from NJ, it's not fair for them to drive 3 hours to get to our wedding.
Anyway, I'm looking at the CLM menu and I notice that they give tonssss of food, but there is no shrimp!!! Everything that comes standard in all the other places we looked at were extras at CLM. Just make sure you look at that.
It really depends what you want though. My FH family is all in the restaurant industry so they would know that we didn't pay much and would be offended b/c of the envelopes and the drive!
Also, there is a cracked window on the ceiling that they said they were not sure would be fixed by the time we had our wedding. If I'm giving a hall 30,000.00 I better have a spotless perfect hall! JMHO.
Good Luck!!!!!

Re: Chateau La Mer vs The Venetian
Me & FH visited both during our hunt for the perfect RH. I personally liked VYC better because the rugs were a little bit more subdued. I am not a big fan of carpets in RH. However, they all pretty much have them. I liked the colors in the VYC's rugs better lol. I know it may sound silly. But, CLM is priced more reasonably than the VYC. Also, the banquet manager was so nice at CLM, more down to earth, and willing to work with us. I've heard great things about both places though, so whatever one you choose will be great. Another great water venue is Land's End, which is the RH me and FH chose. HTH

That doesnt sound silly at all...I always look at the carpets at Rhs. I wont even look at some of them because the carpets look gross online!!
I called VYC today...they didnt call back..I dont like that one bit...

i have never been to VYC & me and FH were going to look at it when we were looking for our RH... i heard it is pretty pricey (which isnt good for us) so if you are on a budget then i would go with CLM - i have been there SO many times & i'm going back for a wedding in july... it is AWESOME there!! on the water, food is great & the rooms are beautiful!!

My fiance's cousin got married at CLM and it was gorgeous. We went to look at VYC and didn't like that all the trim was spray painted gold. We thought that was a bit tacky and overdone. Also they have 2 weddings at a time there and we didn't like that either. But that's just us and we are super picky about our RH. GOod luck with yours though!

I have had the food at both places and I have to say that the Venetian is so much better than CLM. CLM is definitely less expensive, but I just liked VYC better. They both have amazing views, but I think that VYC is a little bit nicer inside.

It depends on how big your wedding is. Ours will be the only wedding that day and we are using all three rooms for our wedding.

to VYC's defense, just like VYC has spray painted rims, CLM's 'view' is of the parking lot! there is only one view that is actually nice. It is really what you want!!!!

I didn't like either to be perfectly honest. I went to VYC and it was alright. I didn't like how the waterview was mostly the docks and I don't know, it just didn't do it for me. As for CLM, I had scheduled an appointment and when I got there, there was a huge bus unloading with people dressed all nice and then when we parked, we could see guys in tuxes in the upstairs window. I was so turned off by the fact they would schedule an appointment with me when they can't even show me the whole place. It looks great in the pictures and I've heard nothing but good things about it but I felt ashamed walking up to the entrance in my civilian clothes when everyone else was going in in formal wear so that is what helped me make my ultimate decision of 'no' for a venue.

If you're looking for a nice waterview...try the Bridgeview Yacht Club...I had my engagement party there in February of this year and EVERY SINGLE person on both sides of our family STILL complement it. They are actually begging us to have our wedding there! LOL and because of them i'm actually seriously considering it! It was BEAUTIFUL and the food was amazing. They catered to my every need and every worry. The granite bar there is HUGE and it was a really nice place for everyone to get up from the tables and mingle with each other. The prices are high over the phone but when you get there and start the negotations, they really work with you on the price. For my wedding I am also considering Chateau La Mer and the Venetian. I guess I will just compare apples to apples and see what works out to be the best! Luckily I'm getting married in February so I think the prices will be alright.

ALOT of places do this and its actually better to do this, you can see the place set up for a wedding and usually you can taste the food, theyll bring some to you in the office, this way you also dont have to wait until a tasting

Very true. It just personally made me feel really uncomfortable before even setting foot in the door and if I feel that before I even see it then it's just not the place for me.

I know but trust me you want to see what they set up the place like...For one place i was told 300 guests can fit in there, seeing it empty maybe i wouldve believed it but seeing it with tables set up i knew it was impossible. You wanna see if everything is perfect for a wedding, clean floors and everything...alot of times when you go visit places theyre still dirty from previous parties and that might turn you off.
Plus we got to taste alot of the food before we even booked otherwise we wouldve had to wait.
When we went back the 2nd time with our parents it was a weekday but there was some party, a big company thing and our parents got to taste the food so maybe you would prefer that, a different type of party rather than a wedding.
also dont pass a place up bc of this bc just about every place does this

I 2nd Bridgeview. I liked CLM in my first search but I am really happy I didnt book them. I went to their tasting and it was all really good but when I went there for the wedding of the year through LIW, the service and food wasnt as good. Of course they are going to try to impress all of the people at the tasting but at the wedding of the year they should try even harder! Its all girls who chat all day online about RHs and vendors! Bridgeview was the perfect place for me and the price was right! About $30 cheaper then my off-season quote from the Venetian Yacht Club and I get the whole place to myself!
