I'd suggest Venetian Yacht Club. I thought the place was beautiful. I felt like you got a lot for your money and the staff was nice to deal with. If we didn't decide to go with Crestwood Manor we most likely were going to end up at Venetian Yacht Club.

Chateau La Mer was beautiful, but I got totally hung up on the palm trees. I couldn't stand the idea that there was going to be palm trees at my fall wedding. I even asked if they could move/remove them and they said they are real palm trees and they couldn't be moved. Then they treated me like I had 7 heads because I didn't like their palm trees. That was my worst bridezilla moment to date.

I would think they would die in the cold weather!! It would be strange to have palm trees in the fall !!!!

They told me that they wrap them and store them from November or December through March or April. I would have loved to get married there if it wasn't for those damn palm trees.

I would go with the Venetian.
I have been to CLM several times and I dread going there. We always make sure to eat before we go because the food is awful.
We just had a wedding there last Sunday and we had a huge lunch to we wouldn't be hungry later on.

Plus, the main room isn't as big as you would think, so if you have like more than 200 people its going to be really cramped and the tables are all on top of each other.

The views, however are really pretty and you can get some awesome pics outside, but doesn't seem enough to me to outweight the cons.

oh, i forgot to add, this has happened every time we have been there, but....more so this past Sunday.

We were in the smaller room upstsairs and the CH was in the same room - they just smooshed it into the front entrance (fire hazard ) and we had to take our plates back to our table. they never took the plates away. When they came to give us our dinner, they had still not removed the CH plates and we looked at the ervers like, well there is no room for the dinner plates and they were like well just push them to the side. really? where? between the favors and the CP there was NO room! they didn't care. they just plopped down the dinner plates and left. I had to track down a server (because they were all mysteriously hiding ) and ask him to take the plates away. He gave me this aggravated look like why do i have to do this and just took my plate away. I was like, um..DH's plate has to be remove too and then he said this should have been done already all nasty. I told him, I agree with you! and then others came to take everyone's plates away. Our table was not the only table with this problem.
Our drinks were never refilled - we had to find someone to ask for a glass of water/soda/any beverage.
Very dissapointing

When I was looking I went to see both. They are both around the same price, but you have to be careful about timing and size of your party. Each of them had wonderful large rooms but each small room was not as nice. Also in Chateu the larger room is the later reception and in Venetian the large room is the earlier reception.

I have to admit I loved the Venetian but I would only want the large room and it was too big for my party. Also I'd want the large room there because the cocktail hour was in the smaller ball room. I wouldn't want food on the floor from another party at my reception.

That doesnt sound right. I'm having my reception upstairs and my cocktail hr is downstairs in another room off to the side. I have heard wonderful things about Chateau La Mer from other people who had their wedding there and of course everyone will be bias to the venue they chose. I say visit both & do a tasting then decide for yourself. Everyone has their own taste & preferences.

I agree everyone has different tastes - however the sserive was less than stellar every single time we went. If this had only happened to me once, I would have shrugges it off, however we have had several bad experiences there and I have now been tomore than 5 weddings there and the serivce has never been good.
Food, and everyone's opinion of it varies - so to each his own, but the lousy service speaks for itself.
I hope, for your sake, that you have a much better experience than i did the last 5 times i was there. Just as an FYI - i did not get married at either the Venitian or CLM so I have no reason to be biased to one or the other.

I have never eaten at Chateau.
It's tough, there are a few places I've been to for weddings where I hated the food. When I hear people say that the food was delicious, I wonder... but everyone has different opinions and tastes. Chateau is a beautiful place, I really like the chandeliers as well as the fireplace in the upstairs room. The ballroom is small but beautiful. The price is also reasonable for a waterfront wedding, so anyone getting married there, it will be fine and you will love it. No place is perfect unless you pay big $$$.

Ive been to CLM a few times and have never had a bad experience. I have also been to Venetian and have nothing bad to say

Thank You everybody for your input!! It has all been very helpful....we are supposed to go see Chateu tomorrow at 1 pm so we will see how it goes. My sister-in-law had gone to Chateu and said they were so nasty with her until she told them she was going to book at Jericho Terrace. I want to go see them for myself though and we will see what happens!!
