anyone deal with this yet?? i sent my invites out.. and i saw the cheapest item fly out of my register..and i know.. i shouldn't check.. and i didnt...
anyway, so i get a random phone call from this family for 5 we invited.. and the mother tells me the invite is so beautiful and yada yada.. she's going to go pick outfits for her kids.. yada yada yada.. and then i was all excited b.c it was the first call.. and then she goes we already bought your gift.. it should be there in a few.. so now there goes the suprise.. but i mean not to sound superficial.. but what the heck???

I know people can buy the cheaper items off your registry quickly sometimes. Maybe they will be giving you a nice cash gift at the wedding? Think positive!!

I know its frustrating, but you almost have to set yourself up for this....not everyone you invite will be generous. I don't think you should start letting these things bother you, you still have some time before your wedding....enjoy it. Once that day comes, its all over. Just enjoy this and don't let anyone (even cheap people) take that away from you.

not for nothing, maybe she wasn't the one who bought it. Just because you registered, doesn't mean all of your gifts will be from that store. I got a ton of stuff from bloomies and Macys that i didn't register for that were all nice items.

at our engagement party we received a check for 25$ from a couple!
FYI the cost per person was 60$
people, they aren't that great!

SAD TO SAY THAT NOT EVERYONE IS GIVING.. ALOT OF PPL DONT KEEP IN MIND HOW MUCH WE ACTUALLY SPEND ON A WEDDING OR PER PLATE.. I HATE TO THINK ABOUT WHAT KIND OF GIFTS I WILL BE GETTING.. BECAUSE HONESTLY I JUST WANT CASH ON MY ACTUAL WEDDING DAY.. I HOPE AND PRAY THAT PPL ACTUALLY DONT BRING BOXES WITH GIFTS INSIDE.. I THINK THAT SHOULD BE LEFT FOR THE SHOWER.. hey its what you can afford. I rather get a cheap gift from someone i love and care about then not have them show up if you think about it.
Not saying it doesn't suck - i got wedding presents from a couple that deff. only covers half of one of their plates but in the end they are showing up to spend the day with me and that i truly appreciate it
On the other side of it it could be just a wishing well gift if its for a shower and the person is going to be another gift just was waiting for a sale. I got that a lot.

You would think that everyone would think like you and give am appropriate gift, but in reality some people are just not like that.
FH and I had already come to terms with this and are not expecting much from some individuals, but we're not going to let it ruin our day. The point of our wedding is to celebrate our union as husband and wife. It ***** that some people might be cheap, but I've come to realize that not everyone is in the same boat as us financially and its hard to expect them to live by your standards.
I absolutely understand girls.. I think I just wanted to tell everyone b/c it was the first item off my registry.. but anyway, it's all good! They're great people.. and maybe it's just that they don't know protocol.. oh well!!
I am sure there will be more as the RSVP's start rolling in.. and the gifts start coming in.. lolol..
