does anyone know the cheapest months to get married? I can't decide on which month in 2012 and I figured to find out the cheapest months
that way maybe a place I wouldn't be able to afford I now could since it's not a peak time.
thank you in advance for anyone who replies

r u opposed to a thursday or fri or sunday?
not opposed to a Friday wedding at all! we were even talking about a Thursday. i'm just afraid friends will be mad they have to take off probably a thurs/friday for my wedding. at least those in the wedding party or close to me.
or what if friends show up late? I don't want to have an empty cocktail hour room.

Re: cheapest months
Weekdays would be better than looking for a particular month if you're worried about price. Yeah, people are going to complain or possibly show up late to a weekday wedding...but you can't please everyone and need to do what you and your FH can do and want to do.
I'm doing Saturday morning and it was a lot cheaper than Saturday evening...but still typical wedding price. Try to look for a hall that has as many things as possible included in the price. Maybe that will help?

I was actually told by my BM and someone else that now a days there is no true off peak wedding time. The times that used to be less popular are becoming more common because people are under those assumptions. I'll tell you mine is at the end of October and I think it's the same price as something going on in May or June.
I'd say you have to judge by individual vendors and RH's. If you put the word 'Wedding' on ANYTHING the price is gonna jump astronomically! Good luck!
I want mid Oct in 2012. hopefully it's not going to be crazy expensive :( if anything we were talking about maybe a Thursday night if we really fell in love and had to have the place.
that's what happened to us! We were looking to have it in March or November, and while there can be beautiful weddings in those months I love pink and spring and roses and I felt like I just wanted June so bad at our venue but couldn't have it..well we decided on a THURSDAY night and it was honestly the best thing we could have done! while I got some nasty comments from people that weren't invited when we booked back in Jan '09, people are more and more changing their day of the week. My gf at work just told me her son just went to a wedding at Land's End last night! So everyone does what they have to to achieve their dream wedding..Best of luck andy questions you have don't hesitate to ask..
*** we also got discounts on all vendors except the photographer for it being a Thursday

Re: cheapest months
I'm getting married Oct of next year and all the venues say 'ohh october it's the new June'.. so the price was the same..
the best was to save money is to have it on an off night like thursday

My friend had a Thursday night wedding. She has a great turn out and her ceremony/cocktail hour was filled. We werent able to stay till the end, we couldnt get off the next day. But we stayed till right after the cake.

Re: cheapest months
you can do a few things, have a day wedding as opposed to a night wedding, have a Thursday or Friday wedding as well.
october was the exact same prices as june was for us. The 'peak' months they say are from April-November. December is still kind of expensive with January-March being a little bit cheaper.
Sundays for us happened to be more than Fridays, but we just happened to like Sundays better than a Friday..........
Good luck!

Re: cheapest months
We are getting married in December, and it still isnt all that cheap. We didnt choose it because of the price, we wanted a christmas time wedding, and thought Westury Manor would be the perfect place. When I was booking our date, my BM told me that if i would have went to january or february that it would drop like 20$ a head. That is a pretty substansial savings!! Good Luck!

I believe that Jan-March are usually the cheapest months!
That is correct and in that order with Jan being the cheapest
what about December? or October? or even April?
October and April are still expensive. December a little less but most places book a lot of parties because of the holidays. January through March is your best bet.

Re: cheapest months
I was told by one RH that spring months can be more expensive than summer months for venues with gardens and venues that are on the water are more expensive during the summer and cheaper during the spring. HTH.

Re: cheapest months
Im getting married in October and it really depends on the venue... some consider it 'off season' say if you went to Gurneys in Montauk.. but for others it is prime time.
Jan/ Feb are the cheapest.
Friday and Sunday's are slightly less expensive than Sat, but not by much anymore.

Re: cheapest months
I'm getting married in October. It's still considered a busy season wedding month. But you can negotiate cheaper prices if you do a day time rather than evening affair and a Sunday rather than a Friday night or Saturday.

ITA Jan-March are the cheapest....Oct is still expensive, you might have some luck w/ Nov & Dec.
but is Oct at least cheaper then the summer?
FH and I looked at about 9 RH's. I was told by the majority of them that October is now the most popular month to get married. When we first started looking we wanted an October wedding but couldn't afford it
The BM's suggested a winter month and we choose a Sat NIGHT in March that was the same price as a Sat DAY wedding in October!

Re: cheapest months
Hunt around. I couldn't believe the price of my hall. It was so much cheaper then halls that weren't as nice. (And thats not a matter of opinion) Just look around, you'll find something. I never thought I'd be able to have a summer wedding at a place so nice and yet I am.

Re: cheapest months
We're getting married the day after Thanksgiving, we were told that was the last weekend before they start raising prices for the the holiday season (at least at JT).
We're also doing a Friday night because it was much more affordable

When I was looking oct and dec were not cheap at all. i thought they would be since its getting colder but people like sept/ oct because its fall but not exactly cold and Dec is popular because of christmas. Alot of girls like the winter wonderland thing.
Also i am getting married on a fri night and it was a little cheaper and we had to gar less. Our ceremony is at 8pm so that would give people enough time to get home from work, change and still make it to the RH. If you do a day during the week make sure its late enough so everyone can make it

Re: cheapest months
Jan through Mar ar ethe cheapest with the exception Valentines Day (especially if V day is on a Sat. like mine - believe me i know lol)
Dec - some dates were cheaper
April as well some dates were cheaper. I had alot of friends getting married in April & they got some great prices at beautiful RH's
Personally for me. I wanted a winter wedding. And since Vday was a Sat. it was perfect. But i paid regular prices for it. But i had the best day 48 & perfectly sunny. Didnt even need my fur.
