As if wedding planning and saving every penny isn't stressful enough, today someone used my checking account number to pay their tmobile bill for hundreds of dollars.
TFCU had no concern about it, I'm closing my account with them this week after only being a customer for about a month.
Furious.

UGHHH I feel your pain...someone stole 3k from us last month to gamble!! We got our money back if that makes you feel any better. Def fight it! Have them investigate it. Clearly the phone is not in your name so why would you be paying someone else's bill.

Yes!!! I am so glad you got your money back. Hate to be on the other side of that door when Karma comes knocking.

Definitely fight it. It's no fun having someone steal money. FH's card number was stolen and someone was buying things at Target with it. It was about $200, but the bank was able to find out it wasn't him.

Thanks ladies, I am fighting it, and cancelling my account with TFCU this weekend. I was just so angry they weren't even concerned. 'If it happens again, we'll close your account' Really? Is that the way you handle things? No one alerted me to the charge, and it's my actual checking information being used, not just a disposable debit card number.
I'm so livid. I was hesitant to use a smaller bank for reasons exactly like this.

Kasey, are you the one the works at SB? Got to the TFCU in the SAC. I am sure they would be more than willing to help you because they are in danger of losing a lot of accounts once island federal takes over.

So sorry you have to deal with this! My FH works for TFCU and after working in other banks, he said their fraud department is much more lax and uncaring. Definitely stay on top of them to the point of extreme annoyance until you get YOUR money back because it is YOUR money.

FH's account is with Island Federal and they were very good with catching the fraud he just had to deal with. Bethpage, my bank, has also been great (my card was compromised from all three of those major breaches over the past year [Michaels, Home Depot, Target]). They informed me when my card was compromised and sent me a new card every time.

Jordan, that's exactly what I did and my experience was not good. I think we're going to start a Chase account, we have our mortgage with them and their app and website actually work.
Thank you for the advice ladies, I needed to vent!

So sorry that you have to go through this. The last thing you need is more stress when you are planning a wedding. Definitely fight it! And definitely go with Chase. I have been with them for years and they are EXTREMELY on top of their fraud. I had a charge a few years back from some ad agency in London for $200 and the immediately canceled my account, texted me and called me to inform me. They e-mail me and text me whenever my account it used for more than $100 charge. They are great!
I hope everything works out for you.

I'm Jordan :) Sorry this happened Kasey! I would definitely go in there an demand your money back you arnt responsible for someone stealing your information! Ask to speak to the GM of the Bank if needed and say you will report them to the BBB if this isnt resolved.
I bank with BOA and they are usually pretty good with this kind of stuff. We had issues over the summer with a bar in Montauk (charged our card we were using to run a tab even though we paid cash) and BOA was totally willing to work with us if it came down to it (we got the bar to reverse the charges)
Hope everything works out!

Whoops! SOrry about that! The money is back in my account as of last night, but I'm still switching. I'd like to go with Chase, they were really great and did everything above when my CC with them was compromised and attempted to be used at a gas station in TX. FH is also looking at TD bank, but they don't have as many branches or ATMs.

I worked for TD for two years and won't bank there.. That's all I'll say lol. Definitely go with a big bank.. Chase, Citi, etc.

I've been with Citibank for over 10 years and would never switch, they are great! Plus all the 7-11 ATM's are through citibank so I NEVER get ATM fees.
