checking in with a vent

checking in with a vent

sorry to do this to you - but i am just at my wits end over here. I posted earlier that Sophia was feeling better, but I dont' know now...she's SO fussy - she doesn't want to do anything but nurse and cry. Every time she falls asleep she's up within 10 minutes, and of course Lord forbid I should put her down. I know that she wants me to comfort her and I am trying to do that every minute, but I am losing patience with just sitting here nursing or walking around bouncing her. She just wont' fall asleep. Its' killing me. I know she's tired too..
Only last week she was sleeping for 1.5 hours in her swing and now if I leave her there for a second she starts to scream.

I guess I just have to be patient. Some days it's so so hard, and there are FAR fewer good days than there are these kinds!

Sorry Jenny. Does 'white noise' help to calm her at all? Those machines are great!!

Sean loves it when I vacuum. He stops fidgeting and goes into some kind of trance.

Does she like it when you 'wear her' in a carrier?

I don't really know what to say because Madeleine seems to sleep more than she's awake. I hope that's not a problem. But when I hear everyone talking about all the awake time they have with their little ones, it kind of worries me.

for baby and for Mommy

Can someone give you a break for an hour or two?

When Nicolas is having one of his unconsolable moments, it sometimes helps BOTH of us if I put him in his bouncy seat outside the bathroom door and take a shower with the door open. The sound of the running water soothes him, and the shower soothes me.

I am not a mom but is it normal for a baby who got shots a few days ago to still be uncomfortable from those shots?

I am sending you some

Re: checking in with a vent

Sorry Jenny!! I used to feel the same way, that the good days were few and far between. Everyone told me that after the first three months with a 'cranky' baby, it would get better. And I didn't want to hear it, but you know what? It was unbelieveable - at the 3 month mark things really turned around. Ryan went from cranky/crybaby to the sweetest calmest little thing....of course he also stopped sleeping about that time, but that was dealable!!!

Just know that you are not alone!! Others have been there and know just exactly what you are going through!! (I know that doesn't help much!) Can someone give you a break for an hour or two??

It's these kind of days that make Mommy-ing the hardest thing we have ever done!!

I think you might need a little break, call someone to come over a friend, relative or a grandparent. I am sure they will understand. I hope Sophie and you feel better!

Is she running a fever Jenny? give her the tynl if she is or give her a dose to help any discomfort.
You poor thing. This cannot be easy!! Can you ask a friend to come over for a bit and maybe you can take a quick nap or just go outside for a few minutes?
I wish I lived closer

So sorry little Sophia isn't having such a good day (or days) lately!!! Big to you and Sophia!!!

My friend also swore by the vacuum. And even the washing machine/dryer.

Re: checking in with a vent

wow - thanks guys for the feedback. It's hard for me sometimes because my husband has to work so many hours now that I am not at the office, and I don't have any family around here besides my husband's family...and well that's another story.

I try to wear her. she's kind of okay with that once in a while, but for the most part she stiffens up every part of her body and just wails going in. Then she hits her head against my chest until she gets taken out of it.

Michele - no fever, though the doctor said tylenol becuase she may be having muscular pain - who knows. I know she's just a colicky baby.... We drove fast around the block for maybe 35 minutes and that helped some...

thanks for all the hugs! one day at a time!! claud i have to check out that link - looks like something I'll be able to relate to!!!!!!!

I'm so sorry. Poor Sophia and poor mommy. It will get better soon. I definitely used the 'driving' technique. That always seemed to put Joseph to sleep but he definitely wasn't nearly as challenging as Sophia seems to be. Hang in there!
