I've heard some of you refer to DJ 'showcases'...do you make an appt with a DJ and they put on a 5 minute sample for you??
I'm very nervous about DJ's b/c I know they can make/break the party. However I have seen first hand how the same company can be awesome at one event and crappy for another!!!!
How did most of you decide? Did you see them at another event, word of mouth, etc????

im going with a friend that was supposed to do my sweet 16, but my parents deported me oversees instead of havign a aprty.. ive nkown him forever and he has his own company. fm me for info.

I went by word of mouth and checked on the Better Business Bureau website for any problems or issues. I booked High Voltage. Great guy - great price.

We found our DJ by reading reviews on LIW and then attended one of their showcases. It was about an hour long and they basically show you their equipment, their packages, their announcing styles and how they mix their music.
The showcase was in an American Legion hall and there were 2 other couples there. We honestly had no intentions of booking that night, but we liked the owner, he really seemed to know our RH like the back of his hand and his prices couldnt be beat so we booked that night.

I haven't met with an DJ's yet. Hopefully I will tomorrow night at the Douglaston Manor showcase.

we met with 3 dj's...2 were recommended by our hall.
the first one i got a good vibe from, he sounded like he knew what he was doing
second one i saw a showcase, he showed us the equipment in action,...played some music..did a mock introduction. he was ok, prices were good but i wasnt blown away
third dj i went to see just got me giddy. i loved his vibe, loved his professionalism. in their office they have equipment set up so he showed us lighting and what not and did a mock intro as well. i just loved everything about it and he hooked us up on the price and i just fell in love so we booked on the spot.
