My daughter received the chicken pox vaccine on Tuesday of last week (5 days ago) and she is now running a fever of 102.6. Did anyone's child have a reaction to this vaccine and if so was it right away or a few days later. I am trying to decipher if this is a reaction to the vaccine or if she is getting sick. Thanks!!

Re: chicken pox vaccine
What did your ped say when they gave her the shot? I think 5 days is a bit of a long time to develop a reaction to the shot but since I dont my Emma to have it till she is going to school I dont know much about it.

Re: chicken pox vaccine
that sounds fine. A reaction can rear it's ugly head even 2 weeks later especially those vaccinations where they are actually injecting a dead virus. I'd check with your doc though, that fever sounds more viral than reaction-based due to it being over 102. My 5 year old got this vaccination last year befire she entered school, it is now recommended, especially for those of you who are pregnant, you don't want your little one to bring chicken pox home to you if you've never been exposed to it , or god forbid if you have a newborn, this illness can be deadly to their fragile immune systems.
