So our RSVP's are slowly coming in which is exciting BUT.... people are texting us asking if they can bring their little children/babies... SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?!

My RSVP's are just starting to come in also and it really shows your how ridiculas people are! I've just stopped trying to be nice about it. Does your invite say 'and family'? No, so you you cannot bring your kids! Ugh

so far so good *knock on wood* on avoiding the awkwardness of having to answer. We have had a a couple 'just checking adults only' and one asking if her her husband is unable to attend could her college age daughter go in his place. (Which we are totally okay with) Honestly though, we are the last in our group of friends getting married, most of our friends were excited that they could leave the kids home and have an adult night out lol)

We thought the same... wouldn't you be excited to have a night without your kids? Well apparently people don't think the same way we do. We clearly wrote Mr. and Mrs. Smith and not The Smith Family! It's so aggravating. My brother will have a 1 month old baby and that is totally acceptable because he is family but we are not running a Romper Room service at our wedding venue. And... we sent out save the dates in December so everyone knew we were having a Sunday afternoon wedding, it's not a surprise and our wedding invites were sent with 2+ months notice.

I am wondering what to do about this. Obviously aside from the kids IN the wedding.
A couple we know put 'adult reception to follow' on the invitation. I am thinking of doing the same to just avoid the questions.......is that weird?

this is a great topic! I too was wondering about this situation when i was making my list of people to come... me and my fiancé both have big families on each side.. so we decided to only invite anyone that is 18 and over. of course me and my fiancé will have our daughters in the wedding but aside from our kids and my nephews who is also in the wedding. that is all the kids we plan on having. people will get upset but i don't need a bunch of drunk adults tripping over little kids and getting in the way. I've been to a wedding where kids where invited and most of the kids where playing hide and seek under everyone tables.. it didnt bother me cause i have kids but i saw in most guest faces that they where appalled by it. When i do attend weddings i don't even ask if my kids can come.. to me this is a date night for us because we don't go out much.

We didn't want to put adult reception because we will have 6 kids there who are cousins under the age of 15... I don't think it's weird at all, I think it is smart!

I see!! We might do it just to be safe, less stress. Usually people should get the picture when you address it to the specific people and not the entire family.
