Children at the Wedding

I have been back and forth on the topic of whether or not I want children at the wedding. I really dont know what to do. Do any of you have any opinions on this?? I need help!

we are having children since our immediate family includes many children. I personally have about 13 first cousins ranging from 2-14...I could not imagine my little cousins, nieces and nephews NOT being at our wedding.

I guess it is a personal preference!

ita. I will be having about 15 kids from 6-15 and another 10 from 15-21.

If the parents decide they don't want to bring them then that's fine.

I'm also having 5 of them as rb/fg/jr.gm and 3 as alter servers.

It's a personal preference. I love kids and can't imagine my wedding without them. So if you count kids as anyone under 18, we're inviting around 50

We're having kids at the wedding. I remember going to weddings as a child and loving it! I love my cousins (that are children) and my cousin's kids, as well as the kids in FH's family and want them there. Of course, if the adults don't want to bring their kids, then that's up to them.

FH and I don't really have too many child family members... I do have younger cousins, but we're not close... and I'm not inviting most (any?) of my cousins (even the adult ones) because there are 30 something of them and again, we're not close. Just inviting the aunts and uncles.

My best friend from hs had a baby last year... he wil be my ring bearer in 2011 and that's the only child we are inviting.

If I had a lot of children we were close with, I would opent he wedding up to kids.I guess it depends on your circumstances.

I will be having children, but only those who are in the immediate family... basically, my first cousins only.... I will not be inviting the children of other guests

We are not having them because we have to keep our guest list down. We have tons of kids in our family but cannot afford to have them. I love kids. I was a teacher.

ETA: Only the children in the BP...so about like 5

I think it's a personal preference too.
We are having over 20 children invited. Granted we are a Mom & Dad so maybe that is why we are choosing to have so many children take part in our Wedding.
Whatever you decide will be the best for you!

ITA. I love kids so I'm thrilled to have them at the wedding. I also kind of think it's rude to invite someone and say 'But don't bring your kids.' Weddings are expensive enough without having to pay a sitter. You can even do a different kid's favor than the rest of the adults or do a kids 'play area' to keep them occupied. Though chances are they'll be tearing up the dance floor the whole night!

Re: Children at the Wedding

There are no children under 13 unless they are my neices and nephews... the RB is FH's cousins son and her FIL is coming to get him after the ceremony...

Its not because i dont want kids there... its because it would be a lot more people to include all the kids... the reason we picked 13 is because FH's little brother... so he would have people there is age to hang out with...

ETA: i spoke to the parents with kids that we would have invited and they all told us they didnt want to bring their kids because they wanted to have a good time...

we are having children at our wedding. FH's family has A LOT of children and I honestly don't mind having them at the reception. Our RH is huge and they won't be in anyone's way, there is a lot of space for them to run around and play but still keep out of trouble or cause trouble.

but many brides choose not to have children at their weddings and that is perfectly fine. my moh had an 'adult' reception and it was fine.

We're not inviting kids.... we have only 1 exception... my little cousin Nicky, he'll be just turning 8 and he's autistic and my Aunt & Uncle can't really have a stranger babysit him.

we are only having our 5 FG's and RB's which are our immediate nieces and nephews. there are just too many children in the family to invite them all it would be insane, but we would never imagine not having our nieces and nephews there and/or part of the bridal party. I also fear my wedding would turn into a kid party with kids just running all over the dance floor and no one being able to dance. I love kids, but this is one thing I have been selfish about... I want to be able to dance and not worry about kids running all over and screaming all day... i can handle to 5 most close to my heart but thats all!!!

We're only have children from our immediate familys. we can't afford to pay even half for as many children plates we would need if we invited everyone's kids.

The only 2 kids that will be at the wedding that I am aware of are 1 of our RB (5) and our FG (6). FI has family flying in from Europe so I am not sure how many children will be attending from that side. I don't mind the kids at all though. I know our FG and RB are going to dancing up a storm.

we are only inviting 3 children to the wedding. they are my nieces & nephew (ages 3, 6, & 8). we are also inviting my moms cousins kids to the wedding, but they are 16 & 14 so i don't really consider them kids.

we dis included, FHs cousins kids (ages 3, 6, & 8) & my moms other cousins kids (ages 2, 8 & 10). i also have three friends who have kids who are also not invited.

we choose to not include the other kids because it was getting too out of hand. the RH charges, i think $90 per child & i couldn't justify the expense. besides we would like all of our guests to be able to have a nice time without worrying about their children.

Re: Children at the Wedding

this is actually a growing issue for us, FH and I said NO CHILDREN from the beginning (even before we were engaged) the only children are his 2 nephews and 2 neices and my nephew (who'll be 13)... because they are all in the bridal party. We don't want any other children there.
We already know FCILs (future cousin inlaws) will try and trick us into allowing their children to come, but we're not giving in. FMIL brought this up yesterday that family from out of the country have young kids and they should be invited... but we said no. so its a growing issue that I know will turn into un-needed drama.

my opinion- do you want kids there? there is a difference between bridal party kids, bro/sis, neices/nephews, etc. as opposed to second cousins twice removed, friends of the family, etc.

but you have to remember, if A guest wants to bring their kids, you have to allow ALL guests to bring their kids.
(that's were we're having the issue)

Re: Children at the Wedding

we together have 14 little cousins (age 1-15) plus two of our bffs have kids so 16 children.... we cna't cut some without cutting all so not kids at our wedding

some of my cousins can't sit still and cause trouble. I dont wanna focus on them on our day

I think kids are great and I love my cousins, but I believe these events are for adults (JMO) I was never invited to a wedding when I was younger and as I go to them know I understand why.

Plus my reception goes til one so if people kids they are gonna have to leave early, rather then leaving them with a sitter or other family and enjoying an adult night out
