Re: Children at the Wedding Reception
The only children at the reception will be the children in the bridal party. You can put 'adult reception to follow' on the invites.

Same here - only kids are in the BP. I wouldn't put no children...I'd do 'Adult Reception to follow'

Re: Children at the Wedding Reception
The only kids we are having are FH's son and his nephews. If you start letting everyone bring their kids the price of you reseption will shoot right up.

Re: Children at the Wedding Reception
Im not having children but my fg & RB will be at my wedding. I think its fair because they are in the wedding. I happen to feel children dont belong at weddings. Its a long day & late evening & most kids cant handle it. But you have to do what you want its your day. If you want your sis/bro kids then keep it to just neices & nephews & thats fair because after all they are your sisters & brothers!

We're cutting children off at cousins. We're leaving it up to our siblings if they want to bring their young children. My youngest cousin will be 12.

Re: Children at the Wedding Reception
We are having no children exceot those that are in the bridal party. On the invitation we will have something about Adult Reception to follow. I personally do not want a bunch of kids running around my wedding, plus, even though most RHs offer a discounted rate for kids, it would add up to almost 50 more mouths to feed.

i agree!! a wedding is not the place for children....... BUT my sister went down this route, and it literally almost split the family apart!! since i don't want a repeat of WW3, we're reluctantly allowing children

Im wondering why you would need to put Adult reception. the people invited are indicated on your invitation. it would specifically say Mr & Mrs ---- and family or childrens names if they were invited. Are people that nervy???

sorry.... just realized that i didn't answer your question at all.... just vented about my own issues! haha sorry!!
anyway, i would just invite your immediate family's kids and anyone in the bridal party if you want to, and have on the invitation adult reception (we're only inviting kids of our parent's immediate family- or i could have said first cousins)
i would definitely give your other friends a heads up though.... you don't want them all upset that they weren't allowed to bring their kids, and then walk in and see other kids...

Yes, people are that nervy. Some people get seriously bent out of shape over this issue and bring their kids anyways.
Another thing that I have heard of people doing (if they have the extra money) is hiring a few babysitters to watch the children to make it easier on their guests. A less pricey idea would be to provide the names of several babysitters in the area.

Re: Children at the Wedding Reception
We are having no children at the wedding also. But, on the invites we will indicate 'Adult Reception only'. The only children they will attend is the ones in the Bridal Party.

Re: Children at the Wedding Reception
oh my am I all too familiar with this topic. FH and I decided to have an adult only evening wedding...and some poeople are not to happy.
Even though we have about a year left someone even asked me flat out!
I have read up on tons of wedding etiquete (sp) on this subject...and some say that it's a bit abrupt putting 'Adult Reception' on your invitations. They suggest that whoever the address is addressed to the guest should know that those are the ones who are invited. I stressed so much about it, just relax and be honest. Maybe spread the word around with other family members so they can let the ones with kids now. You are going to come up against it but just be flat out and don't dance around the subject. I told people that unfortunately we would love to have everyone come but we've decided to make it an adult wedding. Your guest should understand - and don't forget you don't need to explain yourself this is you and FH's decision and it's your day!
Good Luck!

Re: Children at the Wedding Reception
Anyone feel like I do and think that kids can often be the life of the party? I never understood why so many people were against kids at weddings
