What do you think should be the cut off age for kids?? FH has some cousins that will be about 16 & up. Do you think it would be ok to invite them and not any younger kids??

Re: Children @ wedding
im having kids ranging from 3-16 - all of our nieces and nephews and a few cousins
ETA - Totally depends on you and what you want - I want them there and there are enough of them to keep each other occupied

I think 16 is fine, even if you did tell people no kids at the wedding. A 16 year old can take care of himself and theres no reason people with small children should complain

Re: Children @ wedding
Now that i am an 'adult' 16 sounds like a great cut -off
but i was 14 when I was my sister's MOH, and a few of my friends were invited, so I feel like maybe 12 may be a better cut off?
I am inviting all kids to the wedding but if i was having a cut off i would pick 12 maybe?

Re: Children @ wedding
im cutting it off at 1st cousins.. i know that sounds silly but im the youngest in my family.. my oldest couisn is 42 im closer in age with her children then her but the thing is all of my first cousins have children all together their are 22 of them (22 times 95 $ a person = give me a nuse) and FH is the oldest on his side so his youngest first cousin wil be 9 at the time of the wedding but we see them on a very regular basis and they are first cousins they SHOULD be there in my eyes. so we have expressed this to my cousins that their children will not be invted but their will be some younger children there. (my parents are kinda of getting back at them cuz i was NEVER invited to any of their weddings and i was 12 and up) but this is what is working for us.. maybe it will help any of u

Re: Children @ wedding
FH didn't want any kids there. But I kind of did. BUt see all of his 1st cousins are older now. and these would be 2nd cousins. he is close to them all. but he didn't want there kids to be invited cause for his cousins wedding he wasn't invited and he was about 13 at the time, and he lived with them too. So he felt like well what comes around goes around.
At our engagment party I only invited the kids that are going to be in the BP. and his cousin who has 2 kids, wrot eon her response that all 4 will be coming. Now the invitation only said mr & mrs. Not mr & mrs and family. And when she was told no kids she still sent back the response with the 4. And at the party she complained to FMIL about it.

Re: Children @ wedding
We will either be making the cutoff at 16 or 18, and doing that would mean that one child from a family would go but not others...FH talked to his uncles they said that's fine its our decisions...we'll see what happens!!!!
I do know that I don't want lil ones there, even the bridal party ones...i really want everyone to be able to have a good time and enjoy themselves without little ones. I may offer to get a baby sitter but have no decided yet

I think you can tell them how you want it written out. I would ask the person when you order your invites.

Re: Children @ wedding
It's a tough call because some people get upset if they can't bring their kids. I personally think 16 is a fair cut off. But also compare that to if 12 was the cut off and how many more people would be there and whether you could afford it.

Re: Children @ wedding
i am not having any kids at my wedding except for any kids in my bridal party ... now to be fair i will be having one or 2 people that are 16 and 15... but everyone else i am inviting have all younger kids and none of them are invited ... i just cant do it ... my list would grow to be over 250 people ... i know people are going to have a problem with it but all well ... since a lot of people are OTG and have younger kids .. i think if they bring them along for the trip i will offer them babysitter to come and watch thier kids for them while they attend the wedding ...

Re: Children @ wedding
I am having a difficult time with this as well. The only kids I would even consider inviting are my first cousins, and I would feel bad if the cut off would mean one sibling could come and one couldn't. I invited all of them to my engagement party because it is going to much more low key and informal than the wedding, and a few family members went out of their way to mention how nice it was (and unnecessary) that we invited the kids, but now I'm worried they will expect the invites to the wedding too!!!

Re: Children @ wedding
We don't have any really young children in our families. By the time our wedding rolls around, I think the youngest child will be about 9 or 10, which isn't a baby, so we are inviting all of the children in our families to the wedding. We decided to leave it up to the parents whether or not they want to bring them.
