Children's Book Question?

Children's Book Question?

Does anyone remember a children's book about a town that makes a ginormous peanutbutter & jelly sandwich?

I remember the illustrations showing helicopters lowering a slice of bread.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

No, it was a story, not a play or poem, and I think there were bees involved? But I could totally be lying about the bees.

I think they had to bake an enormous loaf of bread?

Did I make up this part of my childhood?

The village made a sandwich to get rid of the bees, right???

I remember it was a jam sandwich - I don't remember it having peanut butter.

Was it this? This was just a jam sandwich, but I remember it well! The town builds a huge sandwich to trap wasps?

The people of Itching Down combat an invasion of wasps by trapping them in a large strawberry-jam sandwich, in this nonsense tale ...

NONSENSE TALE???????? Seems very logical to me!!! I'm gonna try it!!! We've got bees on the side of the house by the hammock!!

That's the one! It trapped wasps, and there were no helicopters, but it was one of my favorite books as a kid.

I was trying to prove it's existence to Mr Boots last night. Thanks everyone!

I think you should write a book with the helicopters in it ...

Perhaps a book about helicopters being flown by monkeys?

We have a wasp's nest on the side of the house too! Maybe I should try to smother it with jam. I'll show those little bastards who's boss!
