I did pottery barn white for my everyday. I already have 4 place settings for an engagement gift and Im registered for 4 more. Then I am registering for Wedgewood platinum something (dont remember) for 8 place settings. i figure I can mix and match it with my potterybarn stuff if I need to.

Re: china

i registered for formal china the ballet slippers but i am probably changing it too mordern for me now that i have seen it several times.

but my mom bought us our everyday dinnerware- its a 61 piece set by Onieda

i didnt think i needed my guests paying $100 + on formal china and then get everyday china i dont really see the need for more china to use everyday plus i am a clumpsy person and i dont feel like eating off china everyday so i opted for everday less formal dinnerware that is still very nice looking

Re: china

We registered for both formal and casual china. We have Noritake for both, and did only 8 settings, as we both have very small families, and don't forsee ever needing more than that at one time. If we do, we can always buy the extra settings on our own.

I registered for something inbetween. We didn't want fine china (I'll inherit some), but we wanted something that we could use to entertain... We registered for 8 place settings - we have small families

I know exactly which one you are talking about (it's beautiful) the bridal consultant suggested 10-12 settings. I did 12. If you know you may have more than 10-12 people for a formal dinner then register for 16. Whatever you don't get in total you can always purchase the remaining pieces.

Re: china

i have a HUGE family i actually want 24 settings of each but that is a bit much to put on my registry lol i figure if it all gets purchased i can add more as i go but i will start with 16 of each

a lot of people do not do formal china anymore but i LOVE it and know i will use it...

and whatever is not purchased i will just finish but i wanted more because the settings do disscontinue so i figure to get the most i can now and also they give you a discount when you complete your registry after the wedding...

We registered for both. Lenox opal innocence for our formal and 18 pieces of it too! We already received 11. We both have big families so holidays i'll be using that. And for our every day we got a more plane set from BB&B. We got 12 setting of that.

most of my things will be modern, but thats everyday dishes, formal is different. I am just a person who hates flowers or most types of plates with any decor on it. I like the smooth clean lines and the fact that it is a bit different. Not big on alot of traditional things.
