i think we are going to register for two sets of really nice, good quality everyday china.....no formal china for us.....we aren't into it and i rather have two sets of beautiful china that i love and can use everyday - two sets so i won't get bored......we dont have any formal china now and i really dont want any - besides I will eventually get my Mother's formal china which was originally my Great-Grandmother's and then I will pass it down to my children....

I registered for both formal and everyday china. I know formal i got 12 settings.
I did the exact same thing. For casual I think I registered for 6 place settings any more people over than that it better be a holiday so I can break out the formal stuff then.

Re: china
We registered for Formal China - Vera Wang Blanc Sur Blanc and we are still looking for everyday that we like.
I love formal china so I was all about registering for that. Ours is white so if we need more we will have options for 'fillers'
We are doing 12 settings of each.

Re: china
We registered for both - both of our families use the formal china for special occasions - A LOT - and I know I'll carry it on.

I registered for something inbetween. We didn't want fine china (I'll inherit some), but we wanted something that we could use to entertain... We registered for 8 place settings - we have small families
Denby Azure
I love Denby. Where can you get it? I like it because it's more everyday.

Re: china
I actually just had my bridal shower this past weekend and I received both formal china and everyday dishes. 16 settings of formal (Wedgewood Bassano- but online pics do not do it justice!) and 8 settings of the Pottery Barn Sausalito collection in Celery. I love both!
I figure, when we eat in the kitchen we will use everyday dishes and when we eat in the dining room, hopefully we will use china. We do have 16 settings of more casual dinnerware for the dining room too... I shop too much!
