I wanted China more than anything, but most people think it's a waste. That being said, I only got 3 place settings at my shower, from my MOH and her mom.

Re: china patterns
We didn't register for china. I bought an inexpensive Mikasa set when Fortunoff was having a sale. We did however register for fairly expensive stemware.

Re: china patterns
I really didn't want formal china; however, my MOH forced me to register for it - 12 pieces too! But I must say - I think it is beautiful - hope we get use out of it.

Dont want it either. Knowing myself, I wont use it in fear of breaking or scratching it. Id much rather register for really nice plates and use them for dinner parties, but not china.

Re: china patterns
It's just a matter of preference. I didn't register for terribly expensive stemware, and my flatware was moderately priced. I'm just used to lot of holiday gatherings and my mother and grandmother would use the china. So I figured I would get a lot of use out it.

Re: china patterns
i actually decided to register for it and picked out a pattern that wasnt all that expensive [er place setting. its not so expensive that if i did use it and break it i wouldnt have to take out a small loan to buy a replacement piece lol.

Re: china patterns
We are not registering for it because my mom is giving us hers. Its not the kind that I would have picked out in a store - but it is free nevertheless!
I think we will register for 1 everyday set. We already have 2 and a christmas one.

Anyone not want china?
NO CHINA!!!! I don't want to waste the space on my registry. There are things we really need and China is not one of them.

Re: china patterns
I didnt really want china either, but saw this Mikasa set e and thought I would get a lot of use out of it..It's not your 'typical china' , it has mugs vs cups which makes it useful for more semi-formal events then say one christmas every 5 years...lol
