China Question
I registered for Lenox china at Fortunoffs. I recently found out that my pattern is a special order, and could take 8 weeks to arrive! Do you think this will discourage people from ordering it? Should I pick another pattern? Or is this common? Did this happen to anyone else?

Re: China Question
If you like it, stick with it, but I doubt you'll get any for your shower.Usually shower invitations don't go out far enough in advance to allow for the 8-week lead time on a gift.

Re: China Question
that's a pretty pattern. Initially, I had 2 registries because Fortunoff didn't carry my china. I opened the other registry particularly for the china because the woman at fortunoff said that it would take a long time to come in. Turns out, I got my china before my shower and then Fortunoff started to carry it anyway.BUT, once I was invited to a shower and they wrote on the card that the china was a special order item and it took 7 weeks to come in.
That bride got ALL of her china. What I thought was REALLY good was that a lot of people ordered it, and had Fortunoff write out one of the cards that says it's on the way. Then, they put the card in a box and wrapped the box. So, the bride knew she was getting it, but she didn't have to lug it all home from the shower (which is how must stuff gets broken).

Re: China Question
I would find out why it takes so long... it's possible that it's because they're in the process of discontinuing it.

Re: China Question
Thanks for the replies. At my mom's suggestion, I did ask them if it was being discontinued and they swear it isn't. I think I'll call them again today during lunch.

no, it's probably just that Fortunoff doesn't carry it. When I had this problem, they told me that they didn't carry it because it was discontinued. They were completely wrong! And, now Fortunoff does carry it!
I say, put it on the registry and if it doesn't come in, people will give you the card at your shower. You'll be better off that way, I promise! So much stuff got broken at my shower!!!

Re: China Question
A few of the pieces I registered for take 6 weeks to deliver. I've realized that I'm going to have to purchase those on my own. I've always stayed away from special order items when shopping for someone else's shower. Then again, that's just me.Welcome New Vendors
