Re: chipping in for bridal shower?
I have heard of a few different way of doing bridal showers....
1) The BM's split all the costs. 2) The BM's and MOB split all the costs. 3) The MOB pays for it all.
My mom is most likely paying for my bridal shower. All my BM's are still in college.

When I did my best friend's shower, we all split the cost of things. Including the MOB and MOG. Everyone wanted to be a part of it, so we all chipped in

Re: chipping in for bridal shower?
My mom is foing mine alone adn in the past when Ive been in BPs- the mom had given each BM a job (ie- invitations, centerpieces, favors, games). Maybe you can suggest this. If they are looking for money- I would say no more than $100

Re: chipping in for bridal shower?
i think when considering how much is too much, you have to think about who is in the bp.
like for mine, i have my moh (sister), my other sister and her 18yr old daughter (really, my sister will chip in for both of them which stinks for her), 2 girls my age (21) in college who work only part-time...so for them, asking more than $150 woul dbe too much. i think if the bp are all older and in their careers and such, you might be able to ask for more.
if you know certain people might be able and willing to give more, and some people can only give a little, so maybe you could appoint jobs to them. like have one or two people pay for favors or decorations (usually less expensive than chipping in a sum of $) and the rest who have more $ can chip in for the restaurant or catering. just some ideas. good luck :) ~Lacey

Re: chipping in for bridal shower?
for my sisters shower last year, we all chipped in $200 each, including mob and mog. each bm chipped in another $80 a piece for the gift, the mothers did whatever they wanted.
how much is too much? that depends. if all your bm' are working, they should be able to afford $25-$300 each. yes, thats a lot, but most of them should know that the shower is coming up and plan accordingly

depends on where it is. If it is at a nice restaurant, it can be more costly.
I know when I was a BM we each contributed about $200 for the shower.

I think you should consider how much they have to spend on other things. If the dresses are really expensive, and if there will be an expensive bachelorette party, then the shower contribution should be lower. I don't think that the shower contribution should very much in the first place. Everyone has expenses of their own and being a bridesmaid should not boil down to just money.

Re: chipping in for bridal shower?
For my best friend's wedding, all the BM chipped in. It was about $75 each, but a bunch of the food was made by her family. Mine, all the BM are chipping in. It will cost them about $100 each. My FMIL is doing the decorations.

Re: chipping in for bridal shower?
This is a very sticky subject. I don't think my girls should have to pay for the shower. I think they will probably chip in for a gift, help wrap favors, etc.
If the girls are chipping in, I think anything over $150.00 is alot. Yes, we all work, but let's thinks about all they are paying for:
dress shoes hair maybe make-up bridal shower gift wedding gift bachelorette party
This could easily run over 1200. A wedding should be a fun event. I don't want my bm to be stressed over $$$$$$$$. My bridesmaids except for my sisters (college and future law school student) all are professionals in various careers, but I don't want to impose on them too much. Just because they can afford it, doesn't mean they have to.

My mom and sister MOH will run my bridal shower. Maybe they will ask my BM to get together games or favors. This is what we did for my sisters shower. My BM don't have the money and they are already paying for so much.

Re: chipping in for bridal shower?
ONe time the bridal party chipped in and paid for the shower with the bride;s mom paying an equal share. Another time, the bridal party was responsible for invites and favors.
Each situation is different. Just have to come up with something that everyone can agree to.

Re: chipping in for bridal shower?
I have heard of this- but didn't really think it was common
My sister was the MOH - so my Dad paid for mine ( my Mom passed away or she would have paid for it)
I think it's a lot to ask of the BP-

Re: chipping in for bridal shower?
It really depends on where the shower is being held and how many BMs are involved.
For my sister's shower, my mother and I handled the organization of it, the favors etc., and the girls were just asked to chip in for the BP gift, which was about $90-$100 each, I don't remember exactly. I thought that was more than reasonable.
