Chocolate

Chocolate

I was told to stay away from chocolate as it has caffeine in it. This is VERY difficult for me and I was wondering if I have to do this until the baby arrives because if I do, I will be very cranky and it won't be because of hormones.

Can I have a little bit of chocolate? Or what about chocolate flavored, like tootsie rolls, that aren't actually chocolate? Thanks for your input...

Re: Chocolate

I just recently read that if you eat chocolate while you are pregnant, your baby will be very happy. I have to tell you, I had chocolate EVERYDAY I was pregnant with my son and he is the happiest child I know. He wakes up smiling and goes to bed smiling. The only problem I did have and I am sure it was too much caffeine, was that in the womb he had a 'skipping' heartbeat. He was perfectly fine when he was born though. I would never recommend to have too much caffeine, enough to harm your child but I think a little is ok.

Re: Chocolate

Well I know chocolate makes me happy, so why not the baby? I've actually been cheating a little - having a small amount every couple days. I guess I'll ask my doctor at my next appointment and see what he says.

A small amount of chocolate is ok especially if you cut out the caffiene from other places-like coffee.

Re: Chocolate

I have been eating chocolate. Hot chocolate, chocolate cake, chocolate milk. I have been craving chocolate like crazy. Although, I don't drink any tea or coffee so chocolate is my only source of caffeine. I agree with the other girls. As long as you do it in moderation you and the baby should be fine.

I look at this way, I can't deny myself everything I love....tuna, caffeine, cheeses, shellfish, rare steak, runny eggs, sushi, wine etc for 9 months. So things like alcohol and sushi which have to be avoided I do, but the others in moderation.
