Chocolate Fountain v. Dancing?

Chocolate Fountain v. Dancing?

I am torn re: the chocolate fountain. My family LOVES food - and especially chocolate, but our splurge was our band and I am very excited for the dancing.

For those that have had chocolate fountains - I have heard that there are lines of people waiting - did you think that it really took away from the dancing? While we plan to sit for dinner, I was not planning on having the band rest for another hour during dessert. I want to dance!

What do you think??

I would do dancing.
I think the chocolate fountain is over-rated and that the chocolate they use isn't even that tasty.

I agree ... it's all about dancing at a wedding. I skipped the vianesse hour so there would be more time for dancing!

Agree with me or not I still think it's over rated- and sort of creepy looking on top of it... I just think of people double dipping- and germs floating around it...

I would rather have a CHAMPAGNE fountain..

but really- honestly- I would take a very well done, plated dessert over mediocre chocolate in a gargantuan fountain any day.

This is pretty much my opinion too. I like fun parties over chocolate.

I know that I had my vienesse hour outside of the reception room and I made sure I had my DJ continue to play dance music...wound up everyone was in awe of the vienesse (NRC does a great one)....that no one was dancing anyway....go figure! But they still had the option...

I think it depends on the people you have at the wedding. I'm having the chocolate fountain and I'm putting it in the room near where the older guests will be sitting. Most of the people who are attending my wedding are young..friends, cousins, aunts and uncles... who will most likely will be up and dancing the whole time. But, for the people who don't dance and our grandparents and elderly family members I thought it would be something special to help pass the time for them.

I am getting the chocolate fountain but a DJ not a band so I can squeeze it into the budget but I think you cant go wrong with a great band instead of the fountain.

i must of misunderstood something.... i didn't mean a chocolate fountain INSTEAD of music.... why would the band not play during desert

Because sometimes it's in the middle of the dance floor and not off to the side or in another room. If I wanted a vianesse hour for my wedding I would have had to forego ONE HOUR of dancing ... I was NOT willing to do that! Just keep that in mind. It's your wedding and your choice, but because of my hall, I wouldn't even consider it.

No, I think she's torn between having the fun chocolate fountain and hindering dancing for the last 45 min or so or skipping the chocolate fountain in favor of longer dancing since they paid so much for a good band.

Either way is my concern actually.

If the have to all together stop the dancing because the fountain goes on the dance floor then I am definitely not doing it.

But also - if everybody is going to be on line waiting rather than on the dance floor dancing to my great band well then I just do not think I want it. I guess my thoughts are that people might be waiting on line for the chocolate rather than on the dance floor if the chocolate was not there. BUT at the same token, people seem to rave about the damn chocolate so I don't know what to do.
