Cholesterol question

I know high Cholesterol is bad. But what does it mean if you have very low Cholesterol. Like if it is under 100 (having a better good than bad ratio)

Anyone know anything about this or anyone have this?

Re: Cholesterol question

Having really low cholesterol is great!

What matters even more is your bad and good cholesterol. I am in the middle of trying to lower mine without having to use medication.

Your good cholesterol should be somewhere around 65 I believe.
Bad cholesterol should be at about 130.
Cholesterol overall should be at 200 or below.

Mind you, I got my test results back about 4 weeks ago, so some of this is a little foggy now.

Keep your fingers crossed for me though - I've gone from 285 to 243 and 13 pounds lost.

Do you know your HDL and LDL numbers?

VickiC I hear ya! I didnt want to start medication, but since high cholesterol runs in my family (my last reading was 304) and I am in normal weight range and 24 years old, I need to do this. Good luck with bringing down your numbers!

Where you say your overall cholesterol should be 200 or below mine is 85. (that is the total)

This is my concern. My brothers are the same way. My brother had his done the other day (after he had eaten breakfast mind you) and his overall was 104

Re: Cholesterol question

I wish I had that problem (if it is a prob.) Your doctor would have told you if it was a problem when they gave the results. Mine told me how to change my diet, etc. to lower mine.
