Christening Dinner?

Christening Dinner?

What is the appropriate 'wear'? It's a Christening celebration at 5:00 on a Sunday in September. We weren't invited to the actual church part (which drives me NUTS - not that I would want to go, but if you are Christening your child she is receiving a sacrament. It's not a freaking birthday party where you invite people to dinner and presents without them celebrating her initiation into Catholicism...)

ANYWAY - do I wear a dress? Anybody have any good preggie clothing pics for such an event?

*Reading this back I sound like a religious freak...I am really not. I just know too many 'Catholics' that have the whole thing all wrong!!!

First of all, I also would be annoyed not being invited to the church. That's the christening, after all!

As for what to wear, I'd say that depends on location. If it's at the family's home, I'd go dressy casual (dress pants with a button down blouse or light weight sweater), but if it's at a restaurant or caterer, I'd say a dress or 'fancier' (for lack of a better word) pants outfit.

So ironic - I just did invitations for a friend's babies' (triplets!) baptism, and she wasn't going to include the church information because she didn't want people to feel obligated to go. I told her those who wanted to would, and those that didn't, wouldn't. Myself, I always feel terrible if I don't make it to the church / ceremony!
