Has anyone gone there for a hair and makeup trial? If you have or know someone who has, can you tell me how it went. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

I live in the area and go to Christie & Co. often. Lois Christie does my color. They have a good rep for brides for hair but with the makeup I got my makeup done there one day for fun and the girl who did it (the same one who does the wedding makeup) made me look like a clown. Way too much makeup. Not that I want completely natural BUT I couldn't open and close my mouth without the gloss getting 'gummy.' Yuck. I went home and right away washed it off. Also, the makeup that they do use they pawn off as their own line but it is the same makeup that all salons use but they change the label. For hair I am definitely using them for my wedding... makeup i am looking for someone to come to my house. :)

This place was recommended to me by two friends who live in the area and get their hair done there regularly.

I got my hair done there when I was the maid of honor in my firends wedding. They did a really good job...but for $80 bucks they better! The woman I used didn't do exactly what I was looking for but I liked what she did anyway.

My friend (the bride) got her hair and makeup done there. They did a really really good job with both. Her hair was nice (exactly what she wanted) and the makeup was great. She asked for a natural look and got it! When she went for her trial they put on a little too much make up but when she went back for the big day she told them what she wanted changed and they listened and did a great job.

I would recommend giving them a try!

I go there for my haircuts, and use Cathy. She doesn't do wedding hair, but she told me that someone named Bella there is very good, and specializies in bride stuff. Also, I only know of one person there that does make-up and her name is Ivy. She used to work for my mother years ago (my mom owned a beauty salon for 25 years and retired). Tell me how it works out.

Hi Angie: I also live in Bayside. Do you have anyone in mind for makeup? Is the price reasonable? Thanks!

I already had a trial, she is very good and I highly recommend her. She lives in Bay Terrace not far from the shopping center.

I have a trial with Jillian from Gorgeous Faces in a few weeks. I will let you know how it goes. SHe comes very highly recommended from a friend of mine and I know she uses professional movie/TV makeup. I noticed that 'tlcoady' just posted another person's info too and I will probably call her as well. :)

Another make up person in Bayside

I used Janet Bari, she is located on Bell Blvd. I went there for the trial but she came to my house on the wedding day. She was great, my make up looked natural enough to wear all day after I went for the trial and on the wedding day, all I did was touch up my lipstick from time to time. She did me, my MOH, my mother and my 16 yr old niece and worked well along side the hair people, very accomodating. I can`t recall exactly how much I paid but it was reasonable and worth it. Her website is http://www.jbari.com
Best wishes
