In honor of the holiday (I've always thought of Christmas Eve as just as much of a holiday as Christmas day...), here's my question...
*****What is your favorite Christmas (or Hanukkah!!!) memory from when you were a kid?*****
I think my favorite memory from when I was a kid was going to my grandma's house for Christmas Eve dinner. I can't remember specific years, because all the good things blend together, but it was the only time that we got together with my mom's side of the family, and it was really nice. Oh...and there was the year that I got a zipline, which was pretty great!!!!

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE QOTD!!!!
My favorite Christmas memory is not something I would probably remember without the help of video. When my sister and I were very young, she got a Bible for Christmas. Now, my sister was born 80 years old...she's always been an old soul and we like to make fun of her for it. Anyway, she drops it on the floor and says, astoundingly, 'The Bible!' and then proceeds, she's about 5 years old at this time, to say 'You know, Christmas isn't about giving or getting...it's about loving...caring.'
I nearly pee myself every time I watch that on video because it is so unlike a 5 year old to say that! Meanwhile, I'm in the background ripping through all of my presents...

My favorite memory is when not just one memory or one year...
We used to have Christmas Eve with my entire family at my parents house... So Christmas Eve was a HUGE holiday in my house... it still is, but now we travel to a different house every year... my mom is one of 12... and it just got to be too much for my parents every year...

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE QOTD!!!!
there is a 10 year age difference between myself and my younger brother (he is my only sibling)
his first christmas he was only 4 months old, but the christmas after that, I remember being like 11 years old and carrying him down the steps and seeing his HUGE blue eyes open soooo wide when he saw everything under the tree...he didnt really know what was going on, but he looked sooo cute!
now, he's 13, and just nuts.

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE QOTD!!!!
Great question! The best memory I have is when my mother decided one year to have EVERYONE over the house to celebrate together. My mother and my aunts have always had a love/hate relationship, so getting everyone together was tricky. The night started off really well, no fighting, but as soon as midnight came all of the kids went nuts and ran to the tree to get their gifts. Then the fighting starts between my mom and aunts.
But what makes this memory the best is that about 15 mins into the brawl, they start to cry, hug and laugh and decided that day to stop fighting. It was so nice to have everyone together and just being a family.
BTW: The little pact they made didn't last that long, come new years they were not speaking to each other!

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE QOTD!!!!
my fav childhood memory is prob the same that I have every year........
The reason that I prob love xmas as much as I do is because of the chaos and commotion that goes on in my house.....every year (since we moved to LI when I was 6) we have our ENTIRE family over, both my dads side and my moms.....It is complete havoc and I wouldn't change it for the world....waking up on xmas morning knowing that all of my first cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmas, etc are coming over in a few hours would make me and my sisters morning!! Looking under the tree and seeing tons of gifts and playing with all of my cousins toys was really the best part of xmas........now that I am older, it still is my favorite time and I wouldn't change having all 50 people over each year for the world!! I now look forward to my little cousins faces as they open their gifts with sheer excitement! It really is the best time of the year when we can all get together as one big (and loud) family and celebrate the day together!

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE QOTD!!!!
It's not one memory...it's just remembering all of the family gatherings when people were still alive and/or people still got along for the sake of the kids. We had so much fun. I still remember my grandma's laugh from the kitchen to this day.
Great memories, but if I go any further I think I may start crying.
I'm glad I have those memories, though!

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE QOTD!!!!
Waking my family up at the crack of dawn so we could all go downstairs and open presents, lol. My mother and sisters HATED me on Christmas morning, because I always woke them up so early! We would all sit in the living room, I'd hand out all of the presents, and once everyone had all of their presents, we started ripping!
I guess I like it the most because now that my parents are divorced, we don't do that anymore. Now everything's split and it s*cks.

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE QOTD!!!!
My favorite Christmas memory was every year we all went to my grandma and grandpa's apartment with all my Aunts, Uncles and cousins. There were 16 cousins all together in a small 5 room apartment and we always had a great time. The one that sticks out the most is when my older cousin told me that Santa Claus was in the fireplace- so here I am a 6 year old gullible child in a white dress going into the fireplace to look up the chimney. Need I say- I was covered with soot from the fireplace, got into trouble and my cousins still dont let me live that down.

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE QOTD!!!!
One memory doesn’t stick out- what does stick out is how I was amazed every year at how many gifts were under the tree. And every year “Santa” gave me a gumball machine and a blackboard (I wanted to be a teacher when I was little). As I got older, it amazed me even more how my mom put it all together EVERY year. She was a single mother and we didn’t have a lot of $$ at all. But she made it happen.

Re: CHRISTMAS EVE QOTD!!!!
Definitely the Christmas that my brother and I heard Santa on the roof coming down the chimney!!! My room is right next to it and on Christmas he used to stay in my room because my grandma stayed in his. I swear still to this day that we heard bells and something on the roof!!! We just layed there so excited that Santa had come to our house!!! Guess the christmas cookies had hallucinogens in them that year.
