Christmas Eve - Work Vent

My office is only open from 8am - 2pm (6 hours) on Christmas Eve, we usually close at 5pm. If anyone is taking Christmas Eve off, they are deducing a full day from paychecks instead of just 6 hours.

UMMMMMMMMM....w...t...f that can't be legal

ETA: Im not mad about working ON Christmas Eve, I'm mad because they are deducting a full days pay from our paychecks, instead of the 6 hours we are open for

that's annoyingg BUTT if you do wind up working xmas eve, I am right there with you!! The stock market closes at 2 that day so we are stuck until then!!!

NO WAY! lol...I live in FL and coming to NY on the 22nd

hmmmm that's weird...so if you work that day do you get paid for a full day or just the 6hrs?? I guess working until 2 isn't THAT bad though, but it would def be nice to take it off!!

I am working on christmas eve as stupid stock market is open till 2 ugh but let's hope that I can work from home.....

Don't feel too bad...I am driving 12 hours to Ohio on that day

Not only am I working until 5 on Christmas Eve, but I am also working on BLACK FRIDAY!!!!!! Kill me now!!!

This...the day of Christmas Eve is NOT a holiday...the night is. I've only ever heard of FH being off for that day, and that is because sometimes the President will declare it a federal holiday and he works for people who run on a federal schedule. Its not even a federal holiday every year.

I'm not sure what being Jewish has to do with it, since sometimes the president works that day and none of them have ever been Jewish

Ok ladies, I didn't mean anything bad by what I said Sorry if you guys took it like that. I just know that my bosses don't even think Christmas is a big deal, never the less Christmas Eve (day or night). They even say the same thing when Easter and Good Friday rolls around.

Some families, like my own, Christmas and Christmas Eve are huge deals and we do alot of family stuff on Christmas Eve

Sorry again if anyone was offended

they did this at my old job. We closed a couple of hours early on xmas eve but if we took off, they would still take the whole day. I ended up just working. i feel for ya!

I understand what you're saying... It's a big deal for my family too. Last year we got off Christmas Day and the day after Christmas just because of the way the calendar fell and I was in panick mode trying to cook and get everything on the table in two hours on Christmas Eve... This year it worked out MUCH better.
