Re: CHRISTMAS GIFT SHOUT OUT
People still buy real fur??!?! Don't get me started...
Anyway, my DH has polar-fleece lined gortex gloves that he uses for snowboarding which he loves... keeps his hands warm and dry (I'll ask him where he got them). My uncle also has fleece lined leather gloves that he uses for chopping wood... I'll ask him too. Good luck shopping!!

Re: CHRISTMAS GIFT SHOUT OUT
They ARE both bad (I didn't say they were MY gloves!)
Plus, there is a slight difference.. the rest of the cow is either eaten or used in other products. No one uses minks/raccoons/foxes, etc. for any other purpose (plus the conditions they are kept in and the method in which they are killed are hundreds of times worse). Let's not get into this conversation much further, OK?
ANYWAY - here is the link to my DH's gloves Gloves

LOL good point.
I own a rabbit pelt actually. My bunny.
It died peacefully and it's really soft. Wait, Im just a pshyco Texan.. nevermind.
I tried on a Chinchilla jacket yesterday in Bloomingdales.. OH MY GOD to DIE for !!! SOOOOOOOOOO soft!!!!
But Jim & I both like Chinchillas alive couldnt get away with buying it. That and it was $1700! heh

Personally, I find them both disgusting...but since you asked...
Leather comes - mostly - from cows and most people feel it is a by-product of the meat industry. Meaning, for the most part, the entire animal is used.
Fur, on the other hand...comes from animals who were either raised specifically for THEIR hide or from animals who were trapped for it (in a lot of cases, other animals such as dogs, are trapped and killed as well - by *accident*). These animals are then either: gassed - thrown in a tub, the tub is then covered and then they are gassed to 'death'. More often than not, the animal only passes out and winds up waking up while being skinned....or, their necks are broken - either by being stepped on or thrown...and my personal favorite (sarcasm), they are killed by anal electrocution - where a rod is shoved up the animals a*s and they are electrocuted. All very dignified ways to die.
Not to mention that we DO NOT live in a climate where fur coats are a necessity - they are a status symbol, not a necessity.

Re: CHRISTMAS GIFT SHOUT OUT
I just feel that both are bad, and yes fur is worse then leather, but both animals are dieing. I was just asking a question not accusing anyone. I find that alot of people have this feeling like one is okay, but the other isn't. It wasn't a persaonl attack, and I am sorry if it was taken that way.

And to answer your original question, I have gloves that are lined with fleece, and I find them to be very warm. I do not know if they are the warmest though.

Re: CHRISTMAS GIFT SHOUT OUT
Personally, I agree with you - I think both are bad. But as a vegetarian (for ethical reasons) I don't buy animal skins.
For a lot of people, they choose the lesser of two evils (leather). And for even more people, they just don't take the time out to think about what their actions are supporting. To be honest, while I dislike both, I find leather (more specifically, shoes/boots/etc) more tolerable than fur clothing/accessories/coats/etc.
ETA: PS - I'm not mad. It's just a topic close to my heart so I may get heated when trying to explain things (not good, I know - I'm a terrible debater b/c of that)...
