So I'm not sure what to do about Christmas. FH and I live in MA, my parents are on Long Island and his in Rhode Island... What do we do? I was thinking xmas eve at his parents then driving *by myself* down to NY to see my family and stay for a while (I have the week between xmas and NYE off)
Thoughts? Comments? Anything?

ive been dealing with this situation forever!
Im in Long island, Dad is PA and mom is CT, and his family is long island, but he has to work sometimes on holidays
im sick of spl;itting up the day (which m eans I cant relax and its not like its a close drive~ 2 hours is a long time!)
depending on when he woprks we either try to make our own day a holiday and get everyone in, then each year rotate for whose family gets the actual holiday.

We have been doing one year in FH family, then one year in mine for every holiday (Christmas, New Year, mother's day, father's day, etc.)... I'm from Montreal, so we really had to try to work something that makes both of us happy... Anyways we still see the other family during the Holidays... Just not on Christmas evening or day...

Yeah, I'm going to talk with him tonight on doing every other year. He's just really stubborn, so we'll see how it goes.
We used to do that for Thanksgiving, but no we have both families come to our house.
