Church

I want to book the church but I'm afraid that they're going to turn me away because it's so far in advance. Has anyone had that problem?

Well since we have the same church

I think it is too early. I couldn't book my date until I think February 05' they just don't get the calander set up that early. I just kept calling & calling to check on it. They only 'pencil' it in, so you have to meet with the priest ASAP to have them put it in 'ink' Otherwise, someone else can take the date/time you wnat if they meet with the priest before you.

I booked my church. I called them and told them that I had to do it in advance because I needed to book my hall. They did not have the book yet, but they put a note on the side and in a calendar so no one can use the date.

I booked my church three years in advance. But I had to change it, thank goodness I didn't give them any money.

I got engaged in February and booked the church in March. The way I saw it was I had a load of catering halls to choose from, but only one church I wanted to get married in. It can't hurt to call them and ask

I booked my church about 15 months in advance... call and see... ti can't hurt to ask. they will probably just put your date down somewhere and you'll be all set....if not ask when can you book for '08. Just my opinion, I would not book a hall until you have CONFIRMED your church.... you never know.... things happen that take priority over weddings at churches and if i were you, i would be very disappointed if i couldnt' get married where i want to because it didn't match my hall date.

Do you belong to that parish? I don't want to get married in my parish only becuase the church is not so nice looking inside or out. They said that b/c of that they might not accept us.

I figured since it was so far in advance there really shouldn't be a problem weather we belong or not but has anyone ever done that?

in most parishes either you or your fiance and/or members of your immiediate family must be parishoners of that church. Many other churches will not let you get married at their church if you are not a parishoner because they give preference to people that do go to the church/grew up in that parish, etc. This is particularly true if it's a large and/or busy parish that have many events. But, there are some churches that will take anyone, but call and see.... but prepared to be told NO.

I booked my july 07 wedding in dec 05.

there were already alot of dates taken.

They don't keep the book out, but they said they had to start booking dates bc so many people were coming in. Since its so friggen expensive to have a wedding and buy a house, people are having longer engagements - the church needs to get with the times!!

The church where we are getting married is my parish since I was little....It's also my mom's chuch too....It is beautiful!!!

WE BOOKED AT THE GREEK CHURCH 'THE ASSUMPTION' IN PORT JEFF.. WE'RE BOOKED FOR 2008.. THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME A PROBLEM FOR BOOKING SO FAR IN ADVANCE... WE JUST HAVE TO PAY OUR ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE..
THE RECEPTIONIST WILL BE SENDING US A PACKAGE IN A FEW WEEKS..

I went to go fill out a paper and a week later i still havent received a phone call... So i called and they hadn't called me back because it was so far in advance... I said i just wanted to make sure I was guarenteed the date so i can go ahead and book everything else. Once i got the Okay from the church i was happy!
