ok so the priest at my church retired in June of 2006 and a new priest took on .. well here are my issues since then
1) i gave a $25 check for pre-cana after 2 months i saw it was not cashed so i called and they were so unhelpful and said 'oh yea we are no longer doing pre-cana' ok so 1) when were you going to tell me and 2) when were you going to give me my check back.. long story short it took them 2 weeks to find my check
2) know one is ever around to help me with anything.. and the secretary they have at the office never knows the answers to anything..
3) i had a apt at 5:15 last night and i waited until 6:30 p.m. and know one showed up ..
4) they changed my rehersal time and never informed me
5) the priest is not marrying us but the decon is...
6) and they expect a $900 donation
so i was very annoyed and called this morning and was told that the decon who stood me up was not in yet.. so i told the secretary .. that i am very disappointed in the chuch because they have not helped me at all and i think its unfair for them to mandate a donation of $900 and yet know one had been helpful at all.. everyone keeps passing the buck to someone else or blowing me off.. and the only thing the secretary said was .. 'oh im sorry but the decon will be here in an hour'

Re: church
yeah, that's the problem with churches... To us, the wedding is a huge event with lots of coordination, and to them, it's just another minor 1 hour thing occupying the main chapel several months from now. It's just not a priority.... Holidays and even Sunday mass take precedence over sacraments for just 2 people....
Don't worry.... just remain persistant, and keep calling them and re-confirming all the specifics for your day....

Re: church
I feel your pain when it comes to the church!! The only advice I can give is to keep on top of them. Any time I need something or have a question I have to call, leave a message for the priest and wait. So I just keep calling until stuff gets done.

Wow, that stinks. I'm so glad I don't have that problem at our church. We have a WONDERFUL church. The pastor who is marrying us is just so humble and gracious. I don't even think we have to give them anything. The only time we have to pay is if we want the chior to sing at the wedding, or use any of the soloists(I'm friends with the one we're using, and he has the most phenomenal voice I've ever heard!! He and his wife, who's also phenomenal, will do a duet for us). If we had to give any donation, it would be $150, but I don't recall them saying we had to. I have to find out. We had to go through a pre-covenant class(it's a Christian church, but I think it's similiar to pre-cana at Catholic churches) but it was awesome and we got so much out of it. We meet with the pastor three times before the wedding, and have already met with him once. He is the marriage pastor who heads up all the marriage classes, etc. The head pastor is just wonderful too!! The most humble human being you'd ever meet. We LOVE going there and everyone is extremely gracious and helpful. I'm so blessed to not have to worry about all this! Sorry to hear that you have to deal with it though!! I'm sure it's a pain!!! Hope you can work things out!!!
