Church and reception Hall distance

Hello Guys,

How much time do you think we should leave between when the ceremony is over at church to when the reception starts? Also in your opinions how far should a church be from the reception hall?

as for time between church and reception that depends on what time you are getting married and when your time is at the RH.

I know people who got married at least 45 mins away from the church its all prefrence.

My mass is at 1:00 in Marine Park, Brooklyn and my reception is about an hour away at 6:00 in Mineola. I gave a lot of time in between because the only other time choice I had was 3:00. I thought that was pushing it with an hour for mass and then 30 minutes of receiving line and pics at the church.

See what works best for you. How much time do you want to take pics? Do you have a lot of out of town guests who will have nowhere to go in between a long gap between the 2? For example, all my guests are happy with the time gap because it gives them time to check into the hotel in between. And I also wanted about 30 minutes in the park after church and wanted to be at the hall an hour earlier than everyone else.

My church is at 3:30 and the reception is about 20 min away and starts at 6:30. We are having a full mass (so ceremony will go til about 4:30). We are taking our pics at the RH - so hopefully 2 hours will be good for us...

It depends on if you want to go somewhere to take pics and if you want to make it to your cocktail hour. My RH is like 30 min from my church. I'm having the church at 3:30 and the reception at 7. I am going to a garden to have pictures done and also want to make it to at least half of the cocktail hour.

The only thing I have noticed is that If you have your wedding on a friday then you might not have some people coming to the church if you have the reception far away or too long of a break in between. But it's honestly hard to find a place that can accomodate everyone! Hope this helps!

My ceremony starts @ 2:30 and my reception is prob 20-30min away and starts at 6:30 for that gives us about 3 hours for our pictures.

My ceremony was 45 minutes from my reception hall. I gave everyone 2 hours before the cocktail hour to get there.

Our ceremony is now at 12:00pm, but we are going to move it to 2:00 pm instead...Giorgios is 1 hour away (without traffic), and our cocktail hour begins at 6:30...so we will have 4.5 hours from ceremony time to reception
