Church Booked!

Church Booked!

So I finally booked my church. Thanks to all the girls that convinced me not to cancel today's meeting. The meeting went great and I was able to forget how mad I was at FH. Actually, we sort of talked through it this morning and I am ok.

The only issue is that I am the FIRST bride to tell the priest that I dont want kids! He's not sure how to handle that, so he needs to consult with the Chancelor in Rockville Centre. He seemed hopeful that their wont be a problem...so crossing my fingers.

So glad to hear you went to the appointment!!! Mine didn't ask that he asked it as: Do you know of any reason you CAN'T have kids... Not: WILL you have kids.

Hopefully everything works out with the Diocese!! Keep us posted.

I'm glad you got it booked! Another thing off the list. The church has the most ridiculous rules sometimes. There was an issue with our priest at first because me and fh and both been to counseling back in college (when we didn't know each other) and that was considered a problem! Ridiculous!

congrats! Now I am worried. By the time I get married I will be 45+ and cant see me having kids the same time I will be joining AARP.
Are they going to give me a hard time also?

Re: Church Booked!

Me and my FH went to book our church on Mon. night. Both of us were really nervous about the whole thing ya know sitting down just the two of ya and a priest haha. Even though he is just a regular guy it still made us uneasy. lol So we sit down and he asked us right away if we wanted a ceremony or mass. We said we wished a mass. He stated he was going to pencil us in for a ceremony and when he starts to see us more in church then he will put us down for a mass!!! He straight out said it lol We couldn't believe it. So we continue talking and he asked if both of our parents were still together/married. I said mine were and my FH said that his were divorced and his mother remarried. He bluntly said 'oh thats not good'! I had to pick my jaw up from the floor lol We continue with more questions everything else goes fine and then we started talking guidelines and pricing. He said there is to be no rose pedals thrown on the floor. If there is he personally is going to take the keys to the limo and hand my FH a broom and we are not to leave till all of them are cleaned!!! Also no rice because it draws mice. He went on to pricing. He said flat out 550 dollars to get married here. No suggested donation no whatever you can give. Flat out 550. And first we have to do a foccus survey thing for $50 then do pre cana for $100 so if you do the math it will cost $700 to get married in a church. Did you girls get this kind of experience when you went to book your ceremony?!?! Me and my fiancee are still in shock from our meeting with him. He didn't seem all warm and cozy and heartfelt. lol all in all not what we expected.!!!!

Our priest was pretty warm and not overly judgemental. I just think I threw him for a loop with complete honesty! LOL. As for the price, he didnt say it was a suggested donation. He just told me the fee. Mine was $550 and included the church, music and pre cana. I think most will call it a suggested donation...but there is always a minimum.
