Church Decorations

Is anyone not getting Alter arrangements for the church?? You know, those big flower arrangements??Do you think it won't look good w/o the flowers... I was trying to keep costs down, but I want it to look nice... And... I know the church keeps the flowers, do they keep the pew decorations as well??? TIA!

Re: Church Decorations

I am hanging buckets of hydrangea on the pews tied with ribbon. They only cost me $15 a bucket for my florist to do them and I am putting them on every other pew...not even halfway down....So I am getting 10 for $150

I'm not doing anything, I love the church the way it is. It has really really high ceilings and flowers would get lost.

only flowers on the pews- No altar decor, although I know my church will probably have something there for me, we know the wedding director at the church very well...i dont think they are necessary but if they do it, great

Re: Church Decorations

I am doing the attached pew decorations and two flower arrangements at the altar, we will be leaving it at the church , but I have seen people take it with them to reuse at their hall.

Re: Church Decorations

I went to a wedding that had no wedding decorations or flowers in the church. Since I was a bride to be, I noticed. But I also thought it was a good idea. Such a waste of money (IMO). Ours were part of the package, so we got them. But I didn't really care one way or the other.

Not doing anything...trying to keep cost down.

I figure for the 20 minutes people are actually in there, they won't notice.

Re: Church Decorations

we have small bows for the pews and 2 small floral arrangments for the alter. They arent going to be huge, but the florist is going to put them on a pretty pedastal to make them stand out

ETA: Tradition in my church is that you leave the flowers as a gift.

We are doing pew bows with flowers but no arrangements up front. The priest actually said it gets to busy up there with flowers so it's better without them. Fine by me less I have to spend.

Re: Church Decorations

I am getting them only because they are part of my package, however if it was not included, that would be the first thing that I would cut out to save money. My brother just got married this past November and did not have flowers on the alter and no one noticed. They did have bows on the pews, but they are pretty reasonable (I think about $5 or $6 a bow and you don't have to do every one of them, you can do every other one)

I have pew ties and just 2 large pillars for the alter. So far. My wedding is the day b4 palm sunday so the church will be decorated for that already! Any flowers I do have at the church I am donating to them for easter!

We're decorating the pews w/hydrangeas but nothing on the altar.

The church is really pretty and as another poster said, high ceilings and the floral arrangements get lost.

I can't ever remember flowers on the altar from any wedding.
Everyone is looking at the bride and groom, that's it!!!

I'm not doing church flowers either, just the pew bows.

Re: Church Decorations

The church usually has some flowers on the alter already for masses so you can call and ask them if they will order the flowers in your colors for that week - that is what my priest recommended so give it a try.
You can also dress up the church without the expensive flowers with your aisle runner, and pew decorations!

I'm doing similar pew decorations with the white roses and ribbons, just on the first couple of pews. The rest of the aisle will have just bows on every other row, and I would like to line the aisle with rose petals. ON the altar, we are having two fireplace baskets filled with long stemmed red roses. These roses will have those little water tubes at the end of each one, and then we are bringing them to the reception hall, where upon entering the reception, the maitre d' will hand each lady a rose from the basket. (I hope! I haven't actually asked them if they would do that yet! lol). It was just something I thought would be nice... a flower for every lady! I may have cigars for the men, but I haven't decided. .

P.S. - 'Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel' on PLJ right now... GREAT song!
