I am not religious and don't want my ceremony to focus on the 'sacrament' of marriage. So, a traditional church ceremony is out. I also don't want to get married at the RH. I've tried thinking out of the box and calling prep schools, historic sites and museums to no avail. Does anyone know if there are churches out there that can be rented, so I can bring in my own officiant? I don't want to disrespect anyone by calling to ask this without having an indication that it may be acceptable to them. Any ideas?

Re: Church For Rent?
i really, really doubt it. A church wont recognize your marriage if its not done by a priest in a church, the fact that it wont be done by a priest means it wont be recognized so i doubt they will let it be done there.

some churchs will let you bring in another preist from another parish. you would have to call and ask.

I would say that it would be difficult to find a church to rent- but there are a lot of places- Queens Botantical Gardens has a beautiful Wedding Garden- I think its very inexpensive. I would look for places like that- call the tourism office near your reception hall, they will be able to assist you.
