We're not having altar servers I don't think because we're not having a mass.

I think the Organist gets paid, so I really wasn't planning on tipping him

My choir, which I am a aprt of , may be singing. if so, i'll pribably give them each a wedding favor.

Re: Church girls...

Sorry I know that was not too helpful.

It seems kind of absurd to be tipping altar servers to me, but I know it';s done and they are giving up their time.

Re: Church girls...

yeah I feel like we should give them a little something. I was thinking $10 for each server (maybe $15 if it's just one). And then the organist and singer maybe like $15 each?

Oh and we are having a full mass so these people are going to be doing a lot more than just a shorter ceremony.

25 each is what we did.

Maybe for the kids a gift card or something?

I'm really involved in my church so I at least tangentally know the kids.

Is it true that you HAVE to tip the altar boys even if you are having a ceremony??

you don't HAVE to tip anyone in my opinion (obviously depending on the situation and service you get) but I just feel like this kid(s) gave up part of their Saturday to to the service at our wedding, we should give them a little something.

Yeah someone was telling me that they were FORCED to tip the altar boys by their church and I was disgusted.

Psh, so were we. Our nasty asss altar server (who's frightening face was in the bg of many of our pro photos) tapped DH on the shoulder while we were still in the middle of our receiving line and said 'You have to tip the altar server and that's me.' Uhhh, a little busy here, don't ya think?!

But as for the original question- no, we didn't tip the priest/organist. The organist got paid to be there with part of the church fees and I believe priests aren't supposed to accept tips.

And yes, you should tip the altar servers even for a ceremony only. I was an altar server as a kid and it's more work than you think, plus those robes are damn hot! lol!

$20 for the alter servers

Not sure about everyone else but prob about $15 - if the organist get's paid from our 'donation' they won't get anything.

One of the singers is a friend of ours so she won't get a tip not sure of the other singer though.

I have to schedule our final meeting with the church.

But in all honesty I wouldn't tip more then $20 for any person in regard to the church.

Re: Church girls...

you know I didn't even think about that - the organist and singer are covered in our 'donation'. So I guess we'll just do the alter servers.

thanks!

i think all but the alter boys are covered. when we spoke to the priest, he said to just give the alter boys $20
