Church help??

Hello,

I'm not on here as much as i would like to be but i have a question i hope you ladies can help me with ??

Were having our ceremony at a church, They told us they are doing a offering/collection during our ceremony. Is this normal?
I'm not having a full mass either.

The last full mass wedding I went to did not take any offeratory/collection. I don't know what the protocol on that is.

I've not asked our priest if there would be one for our wedding. I don't know if its proper to ask? It didn't even cross my mind. hmmm

I've never heard of that. The first church I was originally getting married in never mentioned that. I am meeting with the priest of the new church next weekend and I am going to ask him about that.

Also, neither church that my sister and brother were married in did that! I think it's completely inappropriate.

That's inappropriate either way, but just bizarre if you aren't even having a mass!! haha

Definitely talk to the priest.

They are ' highly' recommending that i use their singer which is another $140.00 ... I dont want a singer just the organist.
But the offering i think it so inappropriate too.
But there making it sound like i have to do this. I'm def going to go there & talk to someone ! lol

The best part about this is they are also charging me 10 for alter boys. !!
I'm shocked

I cannot believe they are charging you that much money and then adding on fees for everyone. My whole ceremony is $500 and they are providing the organist. They even paid our precana fee of $30.

I believe its completly inappropriate to take a collection during the ceremony. I would def speak to the priest about that. I have never seen that at a wedding before.

im glad you asked this bc i wondered if they would do this during our ceremony too.
all of the weddings ive been to, i dont recall them ever doing it - but i wondered if i was mistaken.
i may ask our priest about this.
