Hey Ladies, I am about 100 over my max of number we can have at our RH.....
Someone told me I could do 'Church Only' Invitations.......
I am not completely thrilled about this, but it may solve our issues.....
Are any of you doing this?? Have you heard of this?? WHat do you think of it??
TIA

Re: Church Only Invites??
I've never heard of church only invites...I personally would be offended if I got one of those lol. Makes people feel like they aren't important enough to be invited to your Reception.

Thats kind of how I feel also, but would you rather not be invited at all, or just not to the reception.....I dunno what to do......

Personally, I wouldn't do this.
ETA: And if I received one, I'd be a little offended. A lot of people understand that you can't invite everyone and may just ask a family member when the church is so they can go and give their best wishes.

Same here!
Keep in mind about 20% say no (this does vary). Plus you can also have these people on the B list if you're over your 20% no ratio.

I wouldn't, just because I feel like an invite makes people feel expected to give a gift.

Re: Church Only Invites??
Yes I am doing this. I am having an Indian wedding and the ceremony will take place on Friday evening. The reception will take place on Saturday night. I can not afford to invite everyone to the reception so they will be invited to the ceremony instead. Our ceremonies are very elaborate anyway so the only thing they would be missing is the alcohol.

I def wouldnt do this.. ppl who arent invited may find out by word of mouth or facebook, etc. Or even talk to ppl in a group such as coworkers and say something like I couldnt go past a certain number but would love for yous to come by if you're free, but to singel out ppl and invite them to church only is a bad idea. I would be offended

Never heard of this but I personally wouldn't do it. If I received an invitation to a wedding but was told I was only invited to the ceremony I'd be a little hurt and probably wouldn't even go to the church.

Re: Church Only Invites??
I have heard of this, but from my experience, the people who do 'church only' have had a cake & punch reception following the ceremony. Then the actual reception was like 2 hours after that. It was also know to the guests that some people were only invited to the church, so the actual reception wasn't really discussed among the guests.

Re: Church Only Invites??
Your main invitation is usually for the ceremony with a separate insert that invite them to the reception, so logistically it would be very simple to invite people to the church only, HOWEVER
i would NOT do this,
Honestly, if I got this invitation I would either be totally offended, OR I would think there was a mistake and I was missing my inserts. I think a lot of people would think this, and you'd have to get into some sticky conversations.
I'd try to cut down your guest list. Also, realistically look at it. If you have a lot of OOT guests, you will have a high percentage of No's.
