church or RH ceremony--plz help!

church or RH ceremony--plz help!

ok...need opinion.

do we have our ceremony at a church or at the RH?
We are not particularly religious. The RH has a really nice ceremony area (outdoors) not so nice indoors.
am i totally overthinking the fact of rain? what if it rains than am i totally screwed of having a ceremony inside in a not so nice place?
am i stressing over nothing>? or do i book a church to be safe so its nice either way and not have the outdoor ceremony?

either way i need to make a decision because i need an officiant or priest

church (and I'm Jewish..haha)

i think it will be more private, intimate and special. you may have gawkers at the RH if its not completely private

oh yeah...and the possibility of a july thunderstorm....plus it will be SO hot out in july. you don't want to be a sweaty bride...haha

hmmm...I wanted an outdoor ceremony. I am commanding it NOT to rain so I'm doing mine at the RH.

but...there's something to be said about a church wedding..and yes, I'm jewish too! lol

are you both the same religion? that makes it easier. does anyone in your family belong to a church? oh...do you have to do precana or anything? that adds time & money. and are you decorating the church?

We chose a church so we could take pics before our CH because we want to be there

We're doing a church because it's my childhood church. (I'm catholic, FH is not) But another one of our many reasons is if friends of family that aren't invited to the reception want to see the ceremony, they can come without reservations....HTH

It's a pretty personal decision, I think. FH and I are very religious, so there was never any doubt that we would be having a traditional catholic ceremony in a church. You have to do what is right for you guys.

I luv the out door area of the CCHC for the ceremony...

Im a bit upset that i skipping church becuase i do consider myself religious and follow many many of the catholic traditions, BUT for me, its labor day sunday, we live in Manhattan and our Guests live all over, so i didn't want much back and forth becuase i figured there would be traffic with people going and coming back from the beach..and i didn't want people skipping out of the church due to traffic...

I luv the outside of my hall for the ceremony, if it rains, it will be inside and i will just have to deal with it... we are definitely still having a church ceremony but at a later date

But do what is more important to you, dont do church for the hell of it if it is not important to you...

We are RH twins! I am doing the ceremony at CHCC outdoors so it CANNOT rain!! The good thing is if it rains and you have to do it indoors you get some of your money back. Consider your guests and their travel. Will the Church be close or will they have to travel far? My personal opinion is to do it at the RH.

My sisters wedding was aug 1st, that church had NO AC or fans, we were dying... I did the reading and i thought i was crying, but it was the sweat pouring down my face..

so make sure when you look at churches they have some sort of air circulation

I am doing it at the RH for the same reasons as you stated, neither of us are very religious, plus we are not the same religion anyway. Mine is in july, but in the evening, I'm hoping it cools off by 7:30!! And I am absolutely PRAYING for no rain, because I'm not totally stoked about the indoor ceremony space at the RH. But honestly, for the 20 mins that the ceremony will be, I will deal with it if it rains. WHICH IT WON'T!!

We are doing our ceremony at the Church! I always wanted to get married in a church and since the ceremony is at 3:30 we have plenty of time to take pics all over before the reception starts Our RH has a beautiful outdoor ceremony area and a beautiful chapel as well but they do everything back to back which would mean everyone would be missing the cocktail hour to go out for pics.. we want to enjoy our cocktail hour so it worked out well for us

We are having our ceremony at the RH. While I am semi religious, and would have my ceremony in a church, FH is not at all. That being said, I did not want him to feel uncomfotable about where we are getting married. Luckily, we both love the indoor ceremony at Westbury Manor. It is definetly a personal decision, I think its more important about where you feel comfortable, and where you feel is right. Good luck with whatever you choose!

we are both catholic (not really practicing) we belong to different churches but we dont have a preference if we get married at one of our churches or a completely different one all together
we would prb have to do precana either way (we think) because we would probably want to get married by a priest even if its at the RH
