Church problem!

OK, so it was decided that since im not very religous I would get married in a greek church for my FH, his family is greek and it would mean a lot to him. It was never said what church we would have to get married in, the church that they belong to is VERY old and run down....the paint is chipping off of the front! In fact I dont even know if they have had a wedding there, both my inlaws dont know if there was a wedding ever there.....so i dont like it, its not pretty and i dont see myself getting married there, myself and my bridal party will have to walk in through a parking lot and in though a side door to get in, and they arent even sure if after the wedding we could walk out the front, we might have to walk out into a parking lot!! Im not down for this, and my FMIL is giving me a hard time, theres a much nicer church right down the road from there but is sooo negative about it...I know its her church but she has to work with me a little...what do i do??

well since it is YOUR wedding, you have the final say on where you get married. why dont you try looking up other greek churches that are around. maybe they are nicer. GOod luck.

you stand your ground...if she wants a wedding in her church let her renew her vows there. this however, is YOUR wedding. You may find yourself compromising on several things during the planning process...location should not be one of them.

People usually feel very strongly about their churches..and beings she has an emotional tie to that church, and you told her straight out that you weren't very religious and weren't too picky about churches, she's prob just taking for granted that you were willing to get married in any church, and beings she loves hers , she feels like its the perfect match. Most people don't pick their churches because of how they look, they pick them because thats where they worship..etc... (I'm like you, I want to make sure it looks beautiful!)

Let her know that you def. do not like that church, or go to another church and tell her you 'got a feeling' when you were there .. hehe...
