Do you have to go to the church to book the ceremony, or can I just call over the phone? Im seriously clueless. Will they at least tell me if my date is available over the phone??

We are not getting married at a catholic church but we sent an email and then went in to meet with the pastor...we booked really early so our date was open plus our church is small
I think most churchs can tell you over the phone though

I would think you'd be able to ask over the phone if your date is available, but in order to book the date, we had to go in for an 'interview' - it was like 10 quick questions plus we sat and talked to the Deacon a little to get an idea of what pre-cana is like and all that. I was nervous before we went in, but it ended up being a really nice meeting!

I went to the rectory, had the secretary put down the date we wanted & made an appt to meet with the pastor. But I'm sure you could just call & do it over the phone, I just happened to be there that day..

yeah you can call up and make sure that the date is still available, but you will have to set up a meeting with the priest you want to do your wedding. At the meeting, he is going to explain everything and let you know what you need to do before the wedding as far as documents and pre-cana classes.
