CHURCH QUESTIONS

So, my mom is asking me about candles and things for the church and stuff like that, but I have no idea what I get as part of the day. I just what to know what I should be asking them when I call, so I don't sound like an idiot...

Runner
Candles
How many readers

That's all I can think of....

HELP!

Re: CHURCH QUESTIONS

Most limo companies throw in a free runner. Make sure you check with your church, as a few churches don't allow them. I am having a service not a mass, so my church said I need 2 readers.

Other things I can think of would be:
Unity Candles
flowers for church
bows for church pews
music for church( organist) and song choices
Reading for readers

Did you do pre-cana yet? If not, they usually give you info on all of this

Edited for typo

Re: CHURCH QUESTIONS

HI. When we met with the priest he gave us a paper with all the relevant information like what is included and what rules we have to follow. My church includes the alter flowers and organist and signer with the 'donation.' It does NOT allow aisle runners and it also has rules about where photographers can be and not be.

The priest also discussed that we need readers etc. I didn't know what to expect either when we first went to the church, but they really gave us everything we needed to know, including a pre cana schedule.

Do you want rose petals thrown, or bubbles, etc? I would check with the church, sometimes they don't allow things

To add to the lists from the other girls:

Programs
Pew Bows

Re: CHURCH QUESTIONS

Every church is different...some are stricter than others...see if they provide programs or if you need to DIY. When you are allowed to have a rehearsal. Depending on the month the church rules may vary as well.

Thanks ladies! I called them and instead of being completely overwhelmed with the phones ringing, I was able to have a normal conversation with the woman there.

Re: CHURCH QUESTIONS

Readers: depends on whether your having a ceremony or a full mass. I know for a full mass you need 3 readers, one for the first reading, second reading and then one for the prayer of the faithful.

Candles/Runners: this is generally stuff that your florist or your Limo company will supply for you. My limo company supplied us with our runner.
We didn't have any candles at the church - and I would ask the church if this is even allowed before you add them to a contract.

Re: CHURCH QUESTIONS

My questions were
how many readers - i have a full mass so i was told 3 plus 2 people to bring up the gifts. But was also given several ways to incorporate others if necessary

when does pre-cana need to be done by - just needs to be done before I meet the priest a second time

when can we schedule our rehersal dinner - right away

They gave us the do and donts of what we can throw, no isle runners, the music director will call about a month or 2 before the ceremony
