Church Rehearsal Scheduling....anyone else have trouble??

So my church called yesterday to schedule our rehearsal, and they wanted to schedule it for Thursday, June 5 (wedding is Saturday June 7). FH and I both live and work Out of State, and our whole bridal party does as well (as far as CA and DC). I live in PA and FH lives in NJ. We can't do it Thursday.

I called back today and she said they have 2 weddings on Friday, including a 5:30pm mass (which will go until 7). She understood, but is going to have the Deacon look at it and see what he can do, and call me back....

Has anyone else had trouble like this? When are you doing your rehearsal? It's just so hard for us, FH is using ALL of his vacation days for the HM and doesn't have any to spare!

My church gave me an early afternoon appointment for that Friday. Maybe your church can do that also.

I don't see why not. If my church wasn't going to give me that Friday before I was ready to fight them...haha

We met with the Deacon last night and he said it will either by Friday the 22nd (the night before) -which i DON'T want or we can have it the friday night of the week before, the 15th.

They were actually very accomodating. I'm sure once you explain the situation, they'll work with you.

my church won't get back to me at all about a rehearsal date/time! we don't even know if we're being married by the deacon or the priest.

I feel your pain.

I didnt want to do our rehersal the day before....we're doing it Friday June 20 (8 days before our wedding) because our bp has 32 people in it and believe it or not, this way was easier for them. Plus we can make it like a night out. No one has anything the next day.

how about trying for the saturday before your wedding after their last mass (if they have one)

We really can't do it the week before. We will probably be doing our bachelor/bachelorette weekend 2 weekends prior to the wedding, and our BMs and GMs ALL live out of state (as do we!). There's no way we can ask them to travel again the weekend before the wedding (1 lives in CA, 1 in CO, 1 in DC, 2 in MA, 1 in NH, 1 in NJ....). Plus I would really like that weekend before to be a low-key just me and FH weekend Also, FH's parents are planning to invite aunts and uncles to the RD, and they are almost all out of state as well. We really need to to be a wedding weekend and that's it!

Thanks for all your suggestions, though! Anyone else doing it earlier or later on Friday before?

no problem... traditionally it is the night before, so i think if the church agrees friday night is a good time.

MY church won't allow us to book our rehersal until 3 months before. It stinks because the Friday before my wedding is Halloween and I have 4 kids in my BP

We are actually having our rehersal on Thurs (and are having a Sat wedding) because I preferred that. I have many OOTers too and they are just coming in 1 day early. I also live in NJ and will be staying over in LI for Thurs, Fri & Sat. (sharing a hotel room THurs night with some BM's and my brother & FH - LOL). And, the rehersal dinner spot was available on Thurs and wouldn't do it- if it was Friday b/c it's such a busy night for them.

Good Luck! It does make sense though if the church has other weddings...

They should be able to give you the friday afternoon...They should Understand that you do not live here...

But I guess that is only in a perfect world...

well we are getting married saturday night but we didn't want to do the rehearsal the night before. We specifically asked if we can do it on thursday and luckily we could.

I had trouble scheduling my rehersal also- i don't want it the night before but they told me that was the only time they could do it. Are you getting married at the St. John's in Wading River?
That's my church that's giving me a hard time.
