My church just put in a new marble floor, and will not allow a runner to be taped, nor will they allow a runner to be placed on the floor, b/c someone could fall. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I could do? Irelly want to have a runner!

Re: Church Runners!?
My church said the same exact thing --that they just put in a new granite floor (which in my opinion is really ugly and does not even look like granite --it is really dull too). i brought all this info from the original runner company (they make non slip runners) and went and met with our priest --he basically said there was nothing he could do --we would have to write a letter to the head priest --we knew it was a waste of time so we didn't bother...i really wanted one but i am over it now i guess --i was going to have a custom one made from the original runner company and have the center aisle closed off --their runners are so beautiful...oh well --i am saving me a few hundred dollars by not having it...

Not being mean or anything but is it just me or is anyone a little sick and tired of all these 'rules' from the churches. It is really out of hand. You want to get married in a church they require an insane amount of money for a 'donation' and you can't even have a traditional runner in the church. IMO you are part shareholder of that floor. You paid for it you should be able to cover it.

Re: Church Runners!?
the rules are because people are our socirety is too litigous - the church is in a lot of truoble these days and does not want anymore law suits
i wanted a runner too - but their insurance companies are the ones saying no - so the church follows

I just think it is a bunch of bologna! Nowadays, the church doesn't let you do anything fun.. can't throw petals in my aisle.. can't throw birdseed...the flowers from the ceremony are considered a 'gift to the church' so I can't bring them to the reception site... (or disperse with them as I please)...And I consider them a vendor too, cause with the money I'm dropping to be married in Gods house.. I think somethings should be allowed to be a compromise!

i don't think it is bologna...if thy don't want a runner because they have marble floors and it is VERY easy to fall on...then that imo is COMPLETELY understandable...Same thing with the bird seed.. AND i bet if you told the church that you would have someone there to sweep up after the rose petals are thrown ..they might consider it.
WHY your church would ever think the flowers that you bought are a gift is beyond me and just silly..i have never heard sucjh a thing and would take them whether they liked it or not! What will they do anyway
